Hi, This weekends show is the 4th of July weekend, and once again, 1986 I know Ustream is higher than 64k. I'm not 100% sure of the technical specs as it combines video/audio. Our mp3pro stream is 64k which the makers of mp3pro claim is equivalent to 128k if you are using an approved mp3pro decoder. Right before Rick's show this weekend, the very first AT40 countdown from 1970! Hope this helps!

They offer this show via Internet delivery/mp3 or satellite. We take Internet. No CD's.

Hi,
For this upcoming weekend, Rick identifies the show as "the first week of Summer". It's again 1986. Special guest, Jeffrey Osborne. The sureshot is Steve Winwood's "Higher Love".

I'm just not 100% sure why but Rick's show reruns have always been odd. I don't have satradio but I remember reading complaints of way too many 88/89 shows and not enough 1983-1985 when the reruns were on XM...
But frozen in 1986 or not, the show still sounds pretty good tho. Our three countdowns back to back make Saturday can't miss radio for countdown fans.

We don't have this upcoming weekends show yet.
The week prior was "from the 2nd weekend in June" according to Rick and featured the guests The Hooters. The #1 was "Live To Tell" by Madonna. It's also from 1986.
In fact, I checked and this is not quite what I expected but all six shows that we've received so far have been from 1986.

What we were sent this week that aired yesterday from the syndicator is the "Schools Out Summer Special". It's a "special countdown" of the 40 hottest hits of the 85-86 school year. The #1 belongs to Whitney Houston.

It is a 5 hour show. That surprised me too. They don't seem to be editing or removing any content from the show. They are adding a random unannounced 80's song each segment to extend the shows time.

As far as I can tell, ampedfm is just a site that is playing the select 80's/90's shows released to rick.com. As far as I can tell or know, there is no official source to hear the 90's shows on radio. The company offering an 80's show (TKO Radio Network) is not offering a 90's show. And the TKO Radio Network is offering shows that are not available via rick.com Of the 5 or 6 shows we've received, only 1 was on the website. When you goto www.q1520radio.com, goto the "Listen Live Online" link on the left, then you'll see a Ustream box. You can click the tiny play icon at the bottom of that box next to the rotating arrows and then it should automatically go. If you click the gigantic play button it takes you directly to the Ustream site. The official name for the show is "Rick Dees Weekly Top 40: The 80's" and it starts Saturday at 4pm central right after Casey's 70's show.

We do. Under maintenance as I type this but everything will be back in plenty of time for the weekend. We're migrating to a new platform that will allow us to send pictures/videos along with the audio. It also works with most smartphones like Android phones. Join us on Saturday for nonstop countdowns with Al Gross, Casey Kasem, and Rick Dees back to back! www.q1520radio.com

They are rebroadcasts of the 80's shows. They don't appear to have any songs removed or any material removed that I can tell. They do have EXTRA 80's songs added to the show before each segment to extend the total running time of the show to 5 hours. I do not have information about other affiliates.

Seems like they are doing a lot of mid 80's. This weekends year that airs today is 1986.

From my prior discussions with their company, they seemed to regard radio stations as the enemy. They seem to have the opinion that by having stations play the program, they are losing out on revenue from people that would be buying a subscription and hearing it straight from them on the web. It's very odd. They are failing to take into consideration all of the promotion that radio stations provide. Hardly anyone is going to hear these new web-only shows.
I could tell that their business model demanding that stations not stream the show wasn't going to work. That dropped their affiliate list quickly down to only a half dozen or so stations. When the Doctor celebrated his 30th anniversary just 10 years ago, the show was still on over 100 stations. I think mismanagement of the show is more to blame than anything else for the steep drop here despite some articles I've read this week blaming the radio industry or lack of novelty records on the radio. Just my opinion.

WQMA is now airing these Rick Dees 1980's shows. It's part of an amazing Saturday lineup that would appeal to any countdown fan. We start with "National Countdown Show with Al Gross" at 9am which covers the 50's and 60's. Then we head into the 70's with some classic Casey Kasem at 1pm, and then finally Rick Dees brings us the 80's at 4pm central time. Best Saturday lineup ever! www.q1520radio.com

They were so backwards on their business model. Asking stations to pay for programming... telling stations not to stream the show (and actively inforcing it)... making fans pay to listen to each show at the website.
Chased away stations. Chased away fans. And the biggest one, made it IMPOSSIBLE for any new fan to discover the show. No one thats never heard the show is going to pay $2 to listen to it.
