pzimm7700Caseyfan4everRyanfanNeverIt is true that the Seacrest thread is dormant, wich - in my eyes - reflects the true interest in this programme. It is called "American Top 40", but as I mentioned in the past, it is not in the box what most of us out here reflect to be. Not another host for the same programme, but a different programme with the name of something very familiar. You can put it on hundreds of stations, the interest for this might not be the same as a Casey show on a much smaller number of outlets. Talking about Casey and AT10/AT20 does not naturally mean to be a true fan of Casey. Sometimes I think: Do they know what they are talking about ? Are they giving that much support to Casey and the staff as they diserve for entertaining us for nearly 4 decades ? Some of the "Fans" on this board are just posting to get noticed. They have to say something about each and everything ..... and due to that declare themselves as "FANS" of Casey and the show. If they would be FANS, they would think about their thoughts BEFORE they post them to the eyes of the world. Many threads sound like if they are Anti-Casey, so Charlie is right ! I'm for the freedom of speech, but sometimes I wish Scott would be a little rougher on deleting messages and dropping people from the board. The quality of this board should be "less is more" to honor the countdown master and his work. It should be noticed, that the known and accredited biggest fans of Casey have the fewest postings on this board. That should make SOME people think about it. Radioman, You are entitled to your opinion about the newer version of American Top 40, however I would contest one of your points. The lack of interest on this board does not show the interest level in this show overall. It shows a lack of interest from the people (most of which have been posting on here for years) who post on this board. There are not hundreds of thousands of posters on here. It isn't the official message board of anything so it is really a niche product that just a few show interest in posting on. And since the few posters who post have been doing so since the Casey Kasem AT40 days, you cannot judge interest in the current AT40 from it anymore than you can judge a Democratic candidates overall popularity attending Republican Fundraising rally. Now, I agree with you and have stated on here before that I believe some issues over the shows, changes made, and just in general regarding Casey Kasem in the past that people complain about is making mountains out of molehills, and on a couple of occasions creating Mount Rushmore out of flatland. And there are times I have rolled my eyes at topics, or posts (as many have done with me I am sure in my old screen name), but everyone is entitled to their opinion and as long as comments are made respectfully regardless of what the topic is, I see no problem with that.

Who's Anti-Casey? Last I checked, it's the Seacrest thread that is dormant.

Over the last couple of years, I have heard a lot of people say their cable operator doesn't carry it. I find that odd, because other than a 2-3 year contract dispute, the local cable provider here has ALWAYS had the show and both satellite companies have it too. Just seems almost as much apart of the basic cable universe to me as CNN, ESPN, and TBS.

Before leaving to celebrate Father's Day, I heard the beginning of the Weekly Top 40 and noticed that Rick omitted songs by Dr. Dre and Green Jelly. I wish the company that produced the shows wouldn't have done that but, instead, sent instructions to the stations broadcasting the show, how they could have done so, much like the way AT40 did in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Even though I don't particularly like Dr. Dre, I feel that a countdown show should play all songs on the portion of the chart they claim to represent. That's why i prefer Casey's Top 40. I have the copy of Casey's Top 40 for the same week as the Weekly Top 40 (6/12/93) and am going back to listen to see how Casey handled those songs that Rick announced the title to but did not play. I recorded the Weekly Top 40 and, if those songs are played on CT40 that week, I will dub them into the MP3 of the Weekly Top 40 just so I'll have a WT40 show for that week with all songs that Rick announced, played as well. Note: The Weekly Top 40 continued to do this for several years afterward. I have a cassette copy of the Weekly Top 40 2000 Year End Countdown and I remember Rick announcing the title of Dr. Dre's song "Forgot About Dre" at some point between #91-#98 but not playing it. Maybe you didn't like it, but it was probably this philosophy that allowed his show to bypass both Casey's Top 40 and American Top 40 as the most heard nationwide and/or worldwide by this 1993 timeframe. It was also the precursor to the HAC show, this type of a program allowed not only Top 40 stations to air it, but Adult leaning Hot AC or CHR stations to air it.

Why would a song not being intro'd or outro'd be Premiere telling us the show is headed out the door? The AT10 Christmas shows do this every year. I know it isn't necessarily the same thing, but it isn't like this is an uncommon practice in radio. It isn't like XM radio decade channels where you go a whole hour and hear the host once, maybe twice.

Nothing posted on XM about which Rick Dees WT40 shows will be broadcast on 80s on 8 or 90s on 9 this weekend. So it is just like his weekly show. We never know what we will get until we turn it on and listen.

There were the Christmas countdowns, and as far as I know on the old AT20 AC show, that is all that was played for years going back to Casey's Countdown. Then as Premiere started having more and more AC stations switch to an All-Christmas format and do so earlier earlier, they started the Christmas shows where there was no countdown leading up to the countdown show for several weeks. 2004 may have been the first year of the shows that just played music, though I am not 100% sure of that.

mid 50's, I wish. It's still Hot AC style down here with temperatures in the 80's and 90's.
And lets face the facts with this AC flipping to all Chrismas music. As much as we hate it because the shows we like don't air (or in my case would hate it regardless because I don't celebrate the day), it is apparently pretty popular with most people who listen to those stations. If it weren't and people were tuning out in droves, the stations wouldn't flip to this format this soon, or at all.

Can you set up timed recordings with stream links like a VCR or Totalrecorder which is what I used on PC for 5 years?

Hey guys,
It appears that I will be buying a Mac Book in the next month or so after I get my financial aid refund and tax return. Is there a certain audio recording software you Mac users use to record radio shows? Maybe I will finally be able to start doing that again.
