Original airdates for those that aren't given or obvious (* signifies an officially sanctioned Premiere show, which includes the 7/1/2000 show and presumably also the regular weekly 1971 and 1987 countdowns at their regular times):
Top 40 Hits of the Beatles Years: 10/2/1976 Top 40 Acts of the Rock 'n' Roll Era: 5/1/1971* AT40 Goes To the Movies: 4/1/1978 Top 40 Songs of the Disco Era: 7/7/1979* Top 50 of the 1970s: 1/5/1980 Album Countdown: 8/5/1972 Disappearing Acts: 7/7/1973 (probably; there was a second Disappearing Acts special on 4/5/1975) Top 40 British Artists' Hits of the Rock Era: 4/6/1974 Top Hits of the 1950's: 10/4/1975 (actually top Acts of the 50s?)
Some of these aren't clear from the description. I'm not sure which one "AT40 Top 40 Acts" is: is it the May 1971 show, or a show from 9/30/1972 counting down the top 40 artists of the last five years (1967-72)? There's also a "Top 40 Acts of the Rock Era" show from 10/6/1973 which could be in this list. Also the only "Top 40 Hits of the last 5 years" special I can find is from 4/7/1973.
"Acts From Michigan" (Casey's native state, of course) is one I've never heard of before. I think it's an AT10 from 2004 or later?

I've gotten word of another officially sanctioned bonus show for July 4 weekend, that being a regular but later period AT40 from July 1, 2000. With these optional extras: Hour #1: "Most Girls" - Pink Hour #2: "Wonderful" - Everclear Hour #3: "Music" - Madonna Hour #4: "Doesn't Really Matter" - Janet Jackson Of these: "Most Girls" wouldn't hit the Pop chart for another month, but was in its second week on Rhythmic (making a big leap to #26). "Wonderful" wouldn't hit the Pop chart until two weeks later (and would go straight into the countdown when it did), but was cracking the Top 5 on Alternative. "Music" also wouldn't hit Pop for another month (and I'm pretty sure hadn't even been released yet at July 1). While "Doesn't Really Matter" was the only one of these actually on the Pop chart, at #42. Given this exact week, I'd have picked "Kryptonite" - #41 on the Pop chart - instead of "Music", for which July 1 is much too soon IMO (even though of the two, I easily prefer "Music").

I can at least clear that up.

REELRADIO's Aircheck Channel is making a few AT40 shows available this week. According to their site:
*AT40's first show (chart date July 4, 1970, the 1975 repeat) *July 3, 1971 (the original unedited program, which includes the 1971 network commercials) *AT40 Book of Records (July 5, 1980; I believe this is an off-radio broadcast from LA's KIIS-FM) *AT40's Top Hits of the 80s, So Far (July 4, 1987)

WPNC just started its Top 40 hits of the Beatle Years (1964-70) special. Originally broadcast October 2, 1976, though you wouldn't know that without prior research, as there was no Larry Morgan intro. No optional extras, either, for this and some other specials that Premiere has never officially played, though they presumably authorized WPNC to play the versions they had in their library.

Kind of disappointing, could have done a show dedicated to artists from Michigan.

Meanwhile, WPNC is up to #2 on the Top 40 Acts of the Rock & Roll Era, so they may start 2000 a few minutes ahead of time. (Not sure if we'll get the religious program dropping in that they often do...) ETA: Never mind, did not realize the Top 2 segment would go so long all by itself. Special's ending at this typing, though.

As we all know, it has been a long time since we've had a show from 1975 and 1981 (both of which have been revealed as coming up later in July) on the retro AT40 series. Since the Top 100 for both years are listed among WPNC's weeklong marathon, I am wondering those will be the two "A" show year-enders for 2023? Of course, since we had 1981 over the 2021/2022 holiday season, that might not be the best choice (as they tend to rotate the year-end shows, for the most part). But 1975 is definitely ripe for a repeat, as the last time that show was played was 2016/2017, and that was as a "B" show. It was an "A" show only once, in 2013/2014.

Question: Did the Acts from Michigan show have Optional Extras?
