Please tell what the common thread is. Hint: The link is twice removed. Sister Golden Hair - America - A Horse With No Name Taxi - Harry Chapin - Cat's In The Cradle High on You - Survivor - Eye Of the TigerAlvin's Harmonica - The Chipmunks (David Seville) - The Chipmunk Song Cradle of Love - Johnny Preston - Running BearSlow Twisting - Chubby Checker (& Dee Dee Sharp) - Pony Time Tonight I Fell In Love - Tokens - The Lion Sleeps Tonight Club at the End of the Street - Elton John - Crocodile Rock Get Up and Boogie - Silver Convention - Fly Robin Fly (or fly!) Dis-Gorilla (Part One) - Rick Dees - Disco DuckThe War Song - Culture Club - Karma Chameleon1999 - Prince - When Doves Cry Great question! Songs by artists who had #1 hits with titles that included some form of creature (mammals, birds, reptiles). Speaking of animals... www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuIbPSn_VHkLOL and thanks! Now... can anyone name the artist who was part of a band with Top 10 hits in the 60s and of a different band with top 10 hits in the 80s (none of which went to #1), with songs he co-wrote going top 5 AC and country for other artists (the former in the 60s for a group, the latter in the 90s for a solo artist)? He also co-wrote a song that charted Top 30 R&B/Top 100 Hot 100 in the US for a group (not his) in the 60s that is considered a favorite for Carolina Beach Music and also appears on Northern Soul favorite lists. Long question, but I feel confident that narrows the answer down to one person.

Ok, that last question was obviously too far outside the box. (The answer was J.R. Cobb, guitarist for the Classics Iv and for the Atlanta Rhythm Section, who co-wrote the hits Spooky, Stormy and Traces (the latter of which hit top 5 AC for the Lettermen), as well as Rock Bottom, #2 country for Wynonna Judd in 1994, and Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy, which hit for the Tams in 1968.)
Let's try another: what's the link between these songs: (Where Do I Begin?) Love Story; Roll Over Beethoven; My Generation; Forever Autumn; How You Gonna See Me Now; Anyone Who Had a Heart; Don't Cry Out Loud.

Since the present chart was started in 1967, what album has spent the most weeks at #2 without ever hitting the top of the Billboard 200? The Stray Cats' "Built for Speed"? You are correct. 15 weeks. While Frank Sinatra - In The Wee Small Hours spent 18 weeks @ #2 without reaching #1, it was 12 years before the Billboard 200. Btw, 3 of the top albums of the 1980s spent more time @ #2 than "Built for Speed": Bruce Springsteen - Born In The USA - 24 weeks Bon Jovi - Slippery When Wet - 20 weeks Michael Jackson - Thriller - 17 weeks "H2O" Hall & Oates spent 15 weeks @ #3 without reaching the Top 2.

In case anyone's still interested in this question, I'm bumping it up. Looks like you thought of this question while watching the Royals play the Angels on FOX Saturday Baseball the night before you posted it! I had no idea they played each other that night (don't regularly watch sports). I'd been thinking of posting that question for a while, and it's just coincidence I posted it when I did. And yes, you're correct. Each act had a hit with the same name as a major league baseball "Team" (the Lorde hit that was a clue to the answer).

These numbers (or combinations) were a running theme throughout the series. On 9/24/77 chart positions were 4,8, 15, 16, 23 and 42 as listed. By the way, as far as I can tell these numbers have never been drawn in a lottery. The closest came in an Irish National Lottery in 2005 (4-8-15-16-23-24).

And the reason for my cheeky “real good luck!” in the question, is because the digits first appeared in an early episode of the first season titled: “Numbers”. It is closely associated with one of the characters (Hurley). Previously, once in a mental institution and being treated for depression, he hears a fellow mental patient uttering those numbers repeatedly. When Hurley is released from the hospital, he decides to play those numbers in Florida lotto. Well, he wins big time, $114 million in fact, if I recall correctly. And even though his lifestyles change significantly because of that win, his series of bad-lucks in his personal life just start creeping in… those were indeed cursed numbers, we later learn during the run of the supernatural series. BTW, I posed in my question, “a major television event.” Because, Sep. 22, 2004 was the premiere date of “Lost”: Its first episode being the most expensive pilot in TV history ever.
