What is your favorite song that peaked at No. 40?
I have 2 favorites:
1. Video Killed The Radio Star---The Buggles (1979). 2. Who Do You Think Your're Foolin'?---Donna Summer (1981).

I can't believe how many good songs only peaked at #40!
I loved "Back When My Hair Was Short" when it was out...

Gotta be "Charity Ball" by Fanny on November 6, 1971 -- one of those Casey didn't get to play during its original chart run.

This is from 1967, a remake of an Elvis hit that I like way better than the original:

He did play a snippet of the song on the 8/11/1984 show before playing the Go-Go's Turn to You (talking about how the Go-Go's were the second all-female band to hit the Top 40).

Yes, I know...it's noted in my book.

Is there any way someone here can please send me this particular snippet along with that Go-Go's song? TrekkiELO@aol.com My computer recording somehow skips that one so I missed it. Early 1975 saw "Butter Boy" become their biggest Billboard Hot 100 single at #29. In a 1999 interview with Rolling Stone, Fanny fan David Bowie revealed his respect for the band: One of the most important female bands in American rock has been buried without a trace. And that is Fanny. They were one of the finest... rock bands of their time, in about 1973. They were extraordinary... they're as important as anybody else who's ever been, ever; it just wasn't their time. Revivify Fanny. And I will feel that my work is done. — David Bowie en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fanny_(band)FYI, later Fanny members drummer Brie Brandt and Suzi Quatro's sister Patti Quatro both did background vocals on A New World Record by Electric Light Orchestra in 1976!
