"Still Crazy After All These Years", Paul Simon, without a doubt.
Great song. Great album. Great artist. One of the most prolific and influential of the rock era.
I can't believe it only reached #40. Unreal. I did not know that until a few minutes ago.

I will limit this to 2 songs as you did.... Forever....Kenny Loggins in 1985 and Two Hearts....Stephanie Mills and Teddy Pendergrass.....1981 I was going to post my faves until I went back and saw I already contributed my 2 cents back when this thread started. But I will add that 1981 had a bunch of great songs peak at 40, a couple by Evelyn King and BOC were mentioned. Interesting that the person who started this thread has not been heard from since, essentially. Funny how many people on this forum disappear into the woodwork like that.

"Just Seven Numbers," The Four Tops (1971) "King Heroin," James Brown (1972) "Kung Fu," Curtis Mayfield (1974) - The only song to peak at #40 that year! "Livin' in the Life," The Isley Brothers (1977) "A Lover's Holiday," Change (1980) "One-Trick Pony," Paul Simon (1980) "The Plastic Man," The Temptations (1973) "Put It In A Magazine," Sonny Charles (1983) "Queen of My Soul," Average White Band (1976) "Spice of Life," The Manhattan Transfer (1983) "Sweet Maxine," The Doobie Brothers (1975) "Trying To Make A Fool of Me," The Delfonics (1970) "Two Hearts," Stephanie Mills & Teddy Pendergrass (1981) "Wolf Creek Pass," C.W. One of mine that peaked at #40 appeared on one of the first AT40 shows in 1970. I loved the Delfonics for "Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time)" from pre-AT40 1970, but their followup was pretty nice, too. My entry: "Trying To Make A Fool Of Me" by the Delfonics. It was #40 that one week (the August 1-2, 1970 show---July 25, 1970 BB chart). Our local FM Top 40 WNCI, Columbus, OH took it to the high 30s that summer.

I second the vote for "Good Timin." A great song that definitely deserved to be a bigger hit.

In 1976 a song called "Teddy Bear" by Red Sovine, peaked at #40 and in my old rock and roll book shows the song as a million seller, so apparently it was a crossover hit, maybe country???
