This week’s 70s album tracks for August 5, 1972… AT40’s National Album Countdown, a forgotten special by some, reviewed Billboard’s Top 40 LPs using various tracks. Although the album countdown preempted the Top 40 singles for one week, Casey acknowledged each with title and artist. I recall listening to parts of two shows back in 1976/77, but trying to find a copy of the show today (which reportedly ran from the mid-1970's through the mid-1980's) is difficult. I don't believe very many stations carried the show--and I wonder what chart was used after the demise of Record World, which was the chart HH counted down featuring the Top 30 LPs. |

WICC in Bridgeport,CT was an affiliate station of "The National Album Countdown"-They didn't run it that long.
