Four good ones from four albums I've owned since late 1979. But I'd replace "Those Shoes" with my all-time favorite Eagles song, and the album's final track, "The Sad Cafe".

During the 4th quarter of 1975 – just in time for seasonal shopping and gift giving – numerous artists and their record labels released BEST OF or GREATEST HITS albums. Some of these recording acts included: *Carly Simon
*John Lennon
*Seals & Crofts
*Allman Brothers Band
*Ringo Starr
*Barry Manilow
And with album sales that continued strong into the new year, there were three *additional* Greatest Hits compilations among Billboard’s Top 10 LPs on 1/24/76. This week’s optional extra album tracks…
January 24, 1976 HOUR #1: Chicago IX – Chicago’s Greatest Hits (Columbia) (“Make Me Smile”) www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HrjLRGTUXU
HOUR #2: Helen Reddy’s Greatest Hits (Capitol) (“Peaceful”) www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3BJjehjOGo
HOUR #3: History/America’s Greatest Hits (Warner Bros.) (“Don’t Cross The River”) www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HCbYZHm3K4

Manilow's late '75 LP release was his third studio album, "Tryin' to Get the Feeling". His "Greatest Hits" LP would come out three years later, in late 1978.

Thanks for keeping me honest. Pete: You must have been thinking of last week's 1/20/79 AT 40. Greatest Hits albums in the Top 10 for that week included Barbara Streisand Volume 2 at #2, Manilow's at #4, and Earth, Wind & Fire's at #8. Other ones in the Top 30 included Wings, the Commodores and Steve Miller (1974 - 1978). Just remembered a couple of stories regarding the Manilow's Greatest Hits album and Barry himself. Bought the double album as a Christmas present for my sister. On the back, there was a picture of a gold chain (popular then). As part of her gift, I taped a gold chain so that it overlaid the picture on the cover. The other story is that I was fortunate enough to get tickets for my wife to his concert at the 4,400 seat Rosemont Theatre, Rosemont, IL on October 14, 1995. It was the first concert held at the venue. Though I'm not an avid fan, I did admire his stage presence. You could tell he was giving his all for the fans.

In November 1977, Capitol Records issued a Beatles compilation album that packaged 25 songs originally released between 1962 and 1970. Titled Love Songs, it remained on Billboard’s Top 200 album chart for more than six months, climbing as high as #24 and earning RIAA gold certification.
For February 4, 1978, and as a Valentines Day preview, all optional album tracks this week originate from this 2LP set, with ‘twin spin’ Beatle medleys each hour…
Hour #1: ‘If I Fell’ / ‘Here, There and Everywhere’
Hour #2: ‘You're Going to Lose That Girl’ / ‘And I Love Her’
Hour #3: ‘P.S. I Love You’ / ‘You've Got to Hide Your Love Away’

It is featured on the Love Songs, as is another one of my favorites--Words of Love.
