It seems like every time I heard it during its run, This Time I'm In It For Love was just slaughtered, including this week's 1978 show. Even though the Player single edit ran only 3:25, I guess this is an indication of just how squeezed for time the AT40 staff was pre 4hr expansion. Player was sliced to pieces again, as were many of the tunes on last week's 1978 offering.

"I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues"-Some weeks, you heard only the first verse followed by the harmonica solo that was played by Stevie Wonder.

Wait For Me was another it seems like every time I heard it on AT40, they short changed the guys. I wonder why because by this time the show was 4hrs with a good amount of filler.
The single edit was 3:40 and on this week's show, Casey started to pull out at 3:03.

I think it's a crime the way the single was shortened from the LP version of that great song, let alone any further edits by AT40. The label should have had more faith in the LP version. It might have been their second #1. But I guess the label was preoccupied with Andy at the time.

One week, Casey mentioned the harmonica solo by Stevie Wonder, and that was the part that was cut out instead of the second verse. I assume that this was Premiere's doing.

I'll have to check my originals on that. But this appears likely to be Premiere edits. I'll report back.

"Do It Again" really butchered on this weeks Sirius FM Countdown (1-27-73)--about 2 minutes of a 4 minute original.

The Cue Sheet for 1-27-73 shows that "Do It Again" and "Superfly" were played in a segment measuring 6:06, and what I remember the latter song wasn't edited. I think "Superfly" clocked in right at 4 minutes? Does iHeartRadio edit their songs in favor of the full length version?

Fanny was a BeeGees song that sounded consistently squeezed during its run. True, but at least it was squeezed tenderly.

"Foolish Beat" by Debbie Gibson from 1988 had the worse edit I've ever heard on AT40 during the last bridge nearly every time it was played.

"Foolish Beat" by Debbie Gibson from 1988 had the worse edit I've ever heard on AT40 during the last bridge nearly every time it was played. For sure...those were terrible. 1988 seemed to have the worst edits out of all the 4-hour Casey shows (at least in the originals).

The shows I remember with "Foolish Beat" shortened were June 4, June 11 (or 18th), and July 9. Yeah, that was a really bad edit. If only they had cut out a little more after the first chorus, it wouldn't have been as noticeable and certainly wouldn't have screwed up the continuity of the song as much. Did they ever play a version of "Foolish Beat" with the second verse cut out instead of the bridge?

Just heard one on IHeart that annoyed me.
May 1980 Cupid/I've Loved You For A Long Time was the highest debut of the week at #29. And they chopped it up! In it's first week. As the highest debut of the week! That's bad.
Then they played Bridge Over Troubled Water!
They couldn't play a shorter LDD and the full 45 version of Cupid? I don't get it.

This week's 1978 show is begging for a future Supersizing!! Jefferson Starship was cut down to what, a minute? Embarrassing!
