Anybody listen to the weekly A-Z show? I only just discovered it and wish I had sooner. However, I happened to notice that they skipped over Poison by Bell Biv Devoe. I sent a message to the station, and got a response stating that the song "isn't in the regular rotation."
What kind of answer is that? For one thing, the song did appear in the recent top 1000 countdown, so we know they have it. And furthermore, I heard some crazy-obscure songs on the show (Power Windows, anyone?). How are they "in the rotation," but a top 5 hit is not?
(There's an irony here, in that I never cared much for Bell Biv Devoe -- however I'm a stickler for logistics!)

The station usually doesn't play any super overplayed, or as they call it "burnt", on there. "Poison" was a part of the top 1000 show though. Many of the songs on there don't get as much airplay on regular radio stations unlike others.

More of the songs from 2500-1001 you will find in regular rotation.

I recently heard "Real World" by Matchbox 20 from 1998 and was wondering if there is anything played from 2000 or newer that would be considered a "non-burnt" oldie?

From what I understand, there are quite few songs froms the 2000s in rotation. I think I remember him playing Justin Timberlake's "Can't Stop The Feeling", so that one may be the most recent song on the playlist.

Sam has announced that the 2 hour installments of the top 2500 countdown of 1973-1982 will replay at Midnight Central.

I am at a loss as to how to properly respond to this comment. I would however like to suggest an answer to the question of “What kind of an answer is that?” I believe it is the station owner’s answer as to why a song wasn’t played... hence the statement of “it’s not in our regular rotation”. It is a song that you may hear in a countdown show, but not during regular programming. The A-Z show plays songs that are in the station’s library that are played in regular programming. It is not a reflection of every song they actually own. Some songs that they own are used only for certain shows/countdowns. Having access to the owner who is also a “live DJ” is such a blessing. I’m thankful for that. I’m sure you’re happy that they play music you like and don’t play a song like “Poison” that you don’t like. Hope this helps.

As noted above, I am new to this station so I didn't until now understand the logistics of its format. I made some false assumptions, including a belief that their regular rotation featured pretty much everything. I do appreciate that a station like this exists.

Michael, I’m glad I could help just a bit. I was afraid I was being rude and certainly didn’t want to be. Sam Meyers, the owner of The Fox, is a wonderful person/DJ. His station started on Dec. 11, 2011. I discovered it in March 2015 and have been a big fan ever since. His chat room on the website makes it even better. There are a lot of friendly, knowledgeable music fans of all kinds that “chat” just about daily. It’s a positive, informative environment that is fun to be part of. I’m glad you’ve discovered it.

Will there be a link for the Friday top 2,500++ of 1982 to 1991 show segments in the same manner as there was for the 1973 to 1982 show?
Ever grateful.

I only wish I could listen more often than I do. I learned about them years ago, but for some bizarre reason the station was blocked at my last place of work (even though almost every other radio streaming site worked fine). I now listen to the shows I like, but I fear that once I'm employed again my ability to listen often will be compromised.

Next Wednesday, 06/17/2020, the Fox Oldies will be playing songs from 1974 that peaked below #40 on Billboard. First, beginning at 8am central (9am eastern) they will play about an hour of songs that did enter the Billboard Top 40 in December of 1974. This will be followed by 3 hours of "extras", songs that missed Billboard's Top 40. Some of the songs played in the final 3 hours will be popular album cuts from 1974.
