TheFoxOldies.com and TheZew.net will be playing the Classic Rock Top 500 songs of all time this weekend (including Memorial Day on Monday). #500 will start playing Friday morning, 05/24/19, at 9am Eastern (8am Central). The Top 500 will be divided into 4 parts, each part being about 125 songs. Each part will be about 12 hours long. Part 1 will start at about 9am Eastern on Friday, and then will repeat starting at 9pm. Part 2 will start at 9am Saturday and repeat at 9pm Saturday, etc. The #1 song will play just before 9pm Monday evening and again just before 9am Tuesday morning. Then the Fox Oldies and the Zew will return to their regular broadcasting schedule.
There will be plenty of clips from interviews for the artists performing these Top 500 songs.

Last time I tuned in was two or three weeks ago - then in worked perfectly. But now it seems geoblocked for listeners from outside the US ...Though there are no AT40 any longer it would be woth listening to the AMC shows and I liked the world series of pop.Is there any other stream working outside the US???

Does that stream go uninterrupted if idle for a certain period of time? I'm working doubles from Friday through Tuesday and found out my recording stopped after only an hour, and didn't discover that until over 12 hours later. Tried again last night, and woke up this morning to just over another hour of recorded audio. The audio quality of the "new" Fox player is good, but stops after only an hour or so. The link posted above works good, but it's lower audio quality than the Fox player. Does it stop after a while of idleness? It's not my browser settings; already discovered that many months ago. This is on the player itself. I've looked in help sections, but haven't found a solution or anything that points to one.
Many of these shows happen during times when work keeps me away from home, and I have no way of listening to these shows unless I get a recording from a player that doesn't quit when idle. The old Fox player did that; otherwise I wouldn't have any of the previously aired AMC shows.
Any solutions? Thanks in advance.

If you are still having trouble, Sam suggests using a different player, such as windows media player, VLC, tune in, or iTunes. If that still doesn't work, email Sam direct at thefoxoldies@yahoo.com.

Thanks, mitchm! Will try that when I get home later tonight. Hoping something works. ETA: Used TuneIn, and after 12 hours, no interruptions. Very pleased so far. Thanks again for the suggestion.

The Fox is going to try something new on Fridays, starting tomorrow. Starting at 9am eastern, 8am central, tomorrow they will play 2 hours of songs that peaked on Billboard at #23. Next week he will pick a different peak number and play 2 hours of those songs. I'm guessing the songs will be from the years 1965 to about 1995 (I'll make a post after the show about the oldest and newest song played). Following this 2 hour live segment, Sam will play listener requests received by 10:45am eastern for the next hour. I believe Sam owns every record that hit the Billboard Top 100 from about 1955 to 2000, and many other songs before and after those dates. Send requests to email address TheFoxOldies@yahoo.com.

Mitch, I believe he has all the top 40 songs in his collection. I don't know about the lower 60 whether it's complete or not.

The Fox Oldies played 29 songs that peaked at #23 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. Only one song was from the 60s (In My Room-Beach Boys from 12/1963). 11 songs were played from the 70s. 14 songs were played from the 80s. Only 1 song from the 90s (Jesus He Knows Me-Genesis from 09/1992). And 2 songs from this millennium (Bright Lights-Matchbox 20 from 11/2003 and All Summer Long-Kid Rock from 09/2008). It was announced that next week's show will feature songs peaking at #41. 3 different years had 3 songs played: 1977, 1979, and 1983. 5 different years had 2 songs played: 1974, 1978, 1982, 1984, and 1988. Songs are placed in years/months by the week they first hit #23.

Starting next Monday, July 1st, TheFoxOldies.com will be playing the Top 300 songs from 1973 to 1982. The actual dates are from 10/05/73 to 04/10/82, which is the time the 4 following sources were all publishing charts weekly: Billboard, Record World, Radio & Records, and Cash Box. The songs are ranked on how well they performed on all 4 sources combined. The chart was compiled by a Fox Oldies listener who goes by the name "jalcomic." The Top 300 will be spread over 4 days next week. The show will start at 9am Eastern, 8am Central each of the 4 days. About 100 songs (about 8 hours) will be played Monday and Tuesday. About 50 songs (about 4 hours) will be played both Wednesday and Thursday. The shows will be done live and all the songs played will be on vinyl.

I wonder how much time "jalcomic" had to put into it, especially when all four trades were involved. Now I've got the itch to make my own list, though I'd leave R&R out. Over the last three years of that survey period, R&R's rankings got a little weird. It was more like an AC chart than a CHR chart.

Over the last three years of that survey period, R&R's rankings got a little weird. It was more like an AC chart than a CHR chart. One other knock on R & R is that they seemed to rank most R & B songs pretty low on their charts from that period (1973-82). Also, Record World was fairly inaccurate , IMO, during the last three or four years that they were in business; Disco/dance songs generally did better on Record World than other charts.
