Ryan goofs when he says that "Glorious" is up 6 to 26. It is down 6 to 26. And as a result, it is yet another fave song of mine that peaks around #20(at that position in this case). Starting with "Blow Your Mind" by Dua Lipa that stopped at 24, this year has featured a handful of hits like that on AT40 CHR.
Taylor Swift has to thank her lucky stars that she reached #1. Portugal the Man who overtook her at #4 looking like they might cut her off at the pass, overtake her again, this time at #1. So Taylor squeezes in that week on top before giving way to "Feel it Still". I did not see her regaining her momentum after they overtook the first time. She proved me wrong then. Not thinking she can do it again by regaining the #1 spot.

Not thinking she can do it again by regaining the #1 spot. I mentioned it in the manipulation thread, but at least according to Mediabase, the jump was legit: she was losing spins three or so weeks ago and then somehow got a huge increase in spins that put her at #1. What was interesting to me was the next week (that should have been seen on the 11/4 show). Taylor dropped to number six, while Demi Lovato jumped from 6 to 1 with, "Sorry, Not Sorry". I was hoping we would see a swap last week between Taylor and Demi but we did not. Judging where songs were on Mediabase two weeks ago, expect big movements this week from Imagine Dragons and Camilla Cabello, and Logic should make a strong push into the top 3. Also, if the charts are truly reflective of Mediabase Swift could be spending her first week out of the Top 10 with "Look". Finally, it will be interesting to see if Demi somehow gets a week at #1. She was legitimately at the top of Mediabase for a whole week three weeks ago.

It happened. Taylor drops from 20 to 28 and that makes Look the biggest dropper 3 weeks in a row. Would bet all the tea in China that this is an AT40 first. Could it happen for 4th week? We'll see. Another likely first is this. Last week Ryan said that Sam Hunt's "Body Like a Back Road" was almost certainly going to be the #1 country song of the year. This week he said that Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You" was likely going to be the #1 song of the year on AT40. (Then he played it as an extra and then Body was the next song in the countdown, so the likely #1 pop and #1 country songs of the year were played back to back). Back to the first. Kix Brooks has also said that "Body Like a Back Road" was headed toward being the #1 song of the year on ACC. So in the 45 years of there being both ACC and either AT40 or CT40, I want to say this is the first time that the AT40/CT40 host has mentioned the likely #1 pop and #1 country songs of the year by Thanksgiving weekend and the ACC host has mentioned the same for the #1 country song. And it was/is a slam dunk that said songs would be #1. And it has been a slam dunk in both cases since what..July, August?

Time to get rid of another one of those 'best dating site(sate)' threads appearing on the home page of this site by posting this. Casey and Ryan come close to both mentioning "Volare" on this week's shows. Casey mentions it in naming all the versions of it that have charted over the years in the 70s show. Ryan does not mention it but he refers to it when he says that "Despacito" may be the first record of the year Grammy in a foreign language since Dwight Eisenhower was president. Does not mention "Volare" but that is what he is referring to...happened at the first Grammy awards in 1959.
I think Scott Lakefield just deleted all of those dating posts!
James Arthur will be guest hosting the first show of 2018.

I called "Shape of You" for #1 of the year back in the spring *heh* For a while, I thought "Despacito" would unseat it, but it fell too fast. Not to mention, "Shape Of You" got #1 on both CHR and Hot AC. I figured it would happen though. If it was that popular on CHR, it could have only been MORE popular in a Hot AC environment (being that Sheeran tends to lean toward a more Hot AC sound). As for "Body Like a Back Road"... It got a spot on the Hot AC year-ender, but not CHR. I feel so bad for The Chainsmokers, though. If "Closer" hadn't gotten victimized by the year-end split, it could have been #1 for a year. It's still a good contender for #1 of the decade though.

Is Havana by Cabello that a good song to be those so many weeks in at number one? In the old good days a song like that should have been a top 10 only for a week.

I just noticed the jingles have changed. The voices are different. Is this brand new this weekend? Or when did this change?

Yeah, that jingle change started last weekend on Feb 3 The girl sounds exactly like the one who does the MTV annoucements of shows during their commercials. I wonder if it's the same one?
