If they run both Elliot shows, '78 and '82, that would fill the 18-hour block time. Unlikely they'll play both Elliot shows. I saw a post by Bill Benjamin that one of the shows would be the first AT40 (1970) Labor Day Marathon on Magic 95.9....you will NOT hear Casey, you WILL hear Gary Owens and Mark Elliot, Bob Eubanks, Wink Martindale as well as the first AT40 ever from July 4, 1970! Join us as these special guests will host American Top 40 for Casey! It all begins Labor Day Monday at 6 a.m. <eastern> and goes until midnight...log on at www.magic959online.comProbably looking like his 1982 show is the most likely candidate. Well, there you go--that's the five shows, filling the 18 hours.

KOKZ going w/#1 songs from September 1971 to March of 1973 Saturday. Sunday 1982 and 1986 on Monday. Unusual that KOKZ would go with the earlier 1970s songs (when they opt for a B it's usually for the later one), but they just did 1977 last weekend. Which ironically means that this weekend's show will start with songs that were in the 1971 show they opted against last week. Meanwhile, WPNC says now that their holiday lineup will include shows hosted by Wink Martindale (10/11/75), Gary Owens (9/12/81), Bob Eubanks (1/9/82 or 4/16/83), and Mark Elliott (who hosted seven times from 10/8/77 to 10/2/82, but I guess that 5/13/78 and/or 7/17/82 which Premiere has previously authorized are most likely.) On the Facebook page, it says Marc Elliott from 5pm until 9pm, so that would be the 1982 show. Actually, we WILL hear Casey during the final show, which is the very first AT40, from 9pm up to midnight. At this moment, it is still up in the air which Bob Eubanks show we'll be getting. I'm hoping for the 1983 show, as I've never heard that one before.

Last night WPNC ran promos for the Labor Day guest-host marathon: 6:00 AM-Gary Owens (9/12/81) 10:00 AM-Bob Eubanks (either 1/9/82 or 4/16/83) 2:00 PM-Wink Martindale (10/11/75) 5:00 PM-Mark Elliott (4 hours, no idea which one but probably the 80's show Premiere offered after he passed away last year) 9:00 PM-First show ever (7/11/70)
The first two shows have an iconic #1 (Endless Love and either Physical or Billie Jean) while the third one features Bruce Springsteen's first week ever on AT40 among its record NINE debuts.
(from the 80s show thread.)

TUCSON RADIO Oldies KDRI-A-K269FV (THE DRIVE)/TUCSON has added PREMIERE NETWORKS' "AMERICAN TOP 40 WITH CASEY KASEM -- THE 70s."
The show launches on THE DRIVE this weekend with airings all day on SATURDAY, SUNDAY, and MONDAY (9/3-5), and the classic episodes will air SUNDAYS 9a-noon (MT) after that.
“For nearly two decades, CASEY KASEM was a major part of our weekends,” said PD BOBBY RICH. “CASEY’s voice is synonymous with feelings of nostalgia, great music and a time when life seemed to be a little simpler. We can’t wait to bring AT40 back to the TUCSON airwaves!”
What will they air all day Sat-Sun? Don't know.

KDRI now 8/11/73.. ahead of schedule... each show is clocking about 2:55 As is normal for this station, their commercial load isn't excessive. They have a few dedicated local sponsors for this special AT40 event.

Right in the middle of 10/18/75 now. Assume something from either '71 or '77 will follow.

Listening to hour # 2 of the countdown from 10/18/75-Outstanding songs! Indeed! More than makes up for "Run, Joey, Run"... ...and ending with that horrible "Bad Blood" edit...

"Run Joey Run" is one of those songs that I hate with a passion.
