In 1975, Syl Johnson's original version of "Take Me To The River" missed AT40 territory peaking at #48, but Talking Heads' version did in 1979.

In 1990, Sydney Youngblood hit Casey’s Top 40 with “I’d Rather Go Blind” which was a remake of Etta James’ 1967 song.

Add another to this list: The 1988 first top 40 entry by the New Kids on the Block called "Please Don't Go Girl" was first recorded a year earlier in 1987 by a group called Irving and the Twins but it never made Billboard's Hot 100.

"Wildwood Weed" by Jim Stafford was first recorded by Don Bowman (The same Don Bowman who would fill in for Casey on AT40 6/16/1973 before becoming the original American Country Countdown host?).

"Queen of Hearts" by Juice Newton hit #2 in 1981, but Dave Edmunds failed to chart with it on AT40 two years earlier.
The 10/24/1981 AT40: The 80's episode had a clip of the opening of Dave Edmunds' "Queen of Hearts" before it was sequed into Juice Newton's version.

Looks like “Forever Young” by David Guetta, Alphaville & Ava Max will soon be on AT40. Alphaville had the original.
