Living in Detroit, some nearby Canadian stations will feature tunes which do well in Canada but not in America. One such song is by a group named Neverending White Lights which featured artists from such bands as Our Lady Peace and Finger Eleven. This song features a singer named Mark Dallas from the group City and Colour. The album this song is from, "Act 1: Goodbye Friends From Our Heavenly Bodies", was released on 9/27/05 and hit #3 in Canada. Here is Neverending White Lights featuring Mark Dallas with "The Grace:

jlthorpe... It's amazing that Dido never hot the Hot 100 with that song. It only peaked at #42 on Radio and Records as well. This received tons of airplay where I lived... I wonder why other radio stations were reluctant to add it to their playlists?

I wonder why other radio stations were reluctant to add it to their playlists? I remember seeing the video on MTV or one of the other video channels years ago and thought it was a great song. I was also surprised it wasn't a bigger hit. It's probably one of those songs that would have been a hit if it was released years earlier (it sounds like it could have been from a 90s movie soundtrack). Her next charted song, "Thankyou", hit #3 on the Hot 100, but that was previously sampled by Eminem for his song "Stan", so I wonder if that's why it became a big hit instead of "Here with Me".

From this week in 2007, it's a song that I feel should have been called "1978", because it kind of reminds me of Andy Gibb's 1978 hit "An Everlasting Love". Ironically debuting at #73 (which is where it peaked), here's "1973" by James Blunt.

Here's a song from the 10/15/05 Hot 100 which moved up 10 notches to #90 on its way up to a #60 peak. To me, this is the perfect pop song to come out of the early 2000s. Here is Death Cab For Cutie with "Soul Meets Body":
