6/4/83:Alabama - The Closer You GetPrince - Little Red Corvette Sergio Mendes - Never Gonna Let You GoThe Tubes - She´s A Beauty Toto - I Won´t Hold You BackA special show for Corpus Christi (5/30/2024): 9/6/80 (guest-host: Gordon Elliott):Billy Joel - Don´t Ask Me Why Christopher Cross - SailingGeorge Benson - Give Me The Night Paul Simon - Late In The Evening Pete Townshend - Let My Love Open The Door Mozart 100Over 3000 runners braved the wind and weather on Saturday to complete the Mozart 100 Run. The trail running competition stretched over 105 kilometers and led the participants right across the Salzkammergut to the finish line in the city of Salzburg. The starting signal for this year´s Mozart 100 Run was given at five o'clock in the morning on Saturday. The weather conditions did not dampen the motivation of the participants. Despite the rain, over 3000 runners took part in the race. The supreme discipline of the Mozart 100 Run is traditionally the 105-kilometer route, which stretches from Lake Fuschl to Lake Wolfgangsee and over various Salzkammergut mountains to the city of Salzburg. The race section over the Zwölferhorn (St. Gilgen in Flachgau) had to be canceled at short notice for the first time this year - rain, wind and cold prevented a safe crossing. But even without the Zwölferhorn, there were still 5000 meters of altitude to conquer during the trail run. The trail running competition has been held annually in June since 2012. In addition to the 105-kilometre distance, there are five other competitions, the shortest of which is nine kilometers long. And here are my " power"-editions: 6/4/83:David Bowie - Let´s Dance Def Leppard - Photograph Elton John - I´m Still Standing Irene Cara - Flashdance ... What A Feeling Michael Jackson - Wanna Be Startin´ Somethin´ 9/6/80 (guest-host: Gordon Elliott):
Billy Joel - It´s Still Rock And Roll To Me Diana Ross - Upside Down Electric Light Orchestra - All Over The World Kenny Loggins - I´m Alright Queen - Another One Bites The Dust Time for an extra: Hot ChocolateWhat Kinda Boy You´re Lookin´ For (Girl) is a fun and energetic song that showcases Hot Chocolate´s musical versatility and creativity. The song´s lyrics revolve around a man trying to impress a woman and asking her what kind of man she´s looking for. The lyrics are playful and lighthearted, and they reflect the band´s sense of humor and charm. from my musical category "daydreamer"My motto: "Not always the often heard hits."

While I really like or love 21 songs from the 6/10/72 countdown, these 8 are my absolute faves:I'll Take You There, Outa-Space, Trogladyte (Cave Man), I Saw The Light, I Need You, Betcha By Golly Wow, Me & Julio Down By The Schoolyard, Old ManWhile I really like or love 10 (only 10? ) songs from the 6/13/81 countdown, these 2 (2?!?! ) songs are my absolute faves:I Love You, WinningI know "Trogladyte" is a love it or hate it song but I love it... it cooks! Here you go: The 10 likes/loves count with 2 absolute faves for the 6/13/81 show may be an all-time low for me for the '80s shows. I remember an early '73 show where I had fewer than 10 likes/loves... but this may be my lowest rated '80s show of all-time. Three songs that fell out of the Top 40 that week were on my favorites list... amazingly, none of the 8 debuts do anything for me. Given this... no absolute faves will be featured this week. Since Jessica featured an '89 countdown, I'll do the same. (great idea, Jessica!) While I really like or love 23 songs from the 6/3/89 countdown, these 7 are my absolute faves:Real Love, Buffalo Stance, Close My Eyes Forever, I Miss You Like Crazy, I Drove All Night, Veronica, Rooms On FirePick Hit from '89: "Veronica", a perfect pop gem from that summer:

The annual Imperial Household Auction enters the next round with around 300 items from the Austrian and other European ruling houses: in a press release, Dorotheum Vienna describes Franz Joseph´s leather half-boots in shoe size 41 as the highlight of the auction. Enclosed is a sealed confirmation of origin from the personal valet Eugene Ketterl. With a lower estimate of 4,000 euros, this is actually a bargain and also a reason for thorough foot hygiene. Also up for auction are imperial foot-washing jugs and cups by Franz Joseph. The following editions of the week are perhaps also a highlight: 6/13/80 (A):Champaign - How ´bout UsGary U.S. Bonds - This Little Girl Sheena Easton - Modern Girl Stars On 45 - Medley The Manhattan Transfer - Boy From New York City 6/2/84 (B):Billy Idol - Eyes Without A FaceDan Hartman - I Can Dream About You Laura Branigan - Self Control The Pointer Sisters - Jump (For My Love) Wang Chung - Dance Hall Days Time for an extra: Coast To CoastCoast To Coast were a British band from Wellingborough, Northamptonshire and were formed in 1977 by bassist Bud Smith and guitarist Bob Debank, who recruited Alan Mills as lead vocalist, Graham Woofe on drums and, later, saxophonist Sonnie Torlot. The band´s best-known single, a cover version of the rock and roll classic "The Hucklebuck", was recorded in 1980 and reached #5 on the UK Singles Chart. from my musical category "daydreamer"My motto: "Not always the often heard hits."

The official match ball for Euro 2024 is called "Football Love". It´s the first match ball at a European Championship to have an inertial measurement unit to transmit movement data to the video assistant in real time. The mascot is a bear. The name of the mascot was decided in a public vote. The suggestion "Albärt" received the most votes with 32 % of all votes cast.
And here are my "sports"-editions of the week:
6/14/80 (A):Billy Joel - It´s Still Rock And Roll To Me Dr. Hook - Sexy Eyes Electric Light Orchestra - I´m Alive Paul McCartney And Wings - Coming Up (Live At Glasgow) Pretenders - Brass In Pocket (I´m Special) 6/18/88 (B):Def Leppard - Pour Some Sugar On Me INXS - New Sensation Poison - Nothin´ But A Good Time Prince - Alphabet St. Steve Winwood - Roll With It Time for an extra: Right Said FredRight Said Fred was founded in 1989 by the two brothers Fred and Richard Fairbrass. In 1990, Fred and Richard wrote the song "I´m Too Sexy" together with guitarist Rob Manzoli. Fred and Richard borrowed money and to keep costs down, they recorded at night in a recording studio in Ealing, which had already filed for bankruptcy. The final recordings were made in the Red Bus Studio in London in early 1991. "I´m Too Sexy" and the song "Swan", which later made it onto the debut album "Up", were initially rejected by all record companies. Nevertheless, the two brothers did not give up and followed their instincts. The single, which begins with Richard´s voice "I´m too sexy for my love, too sexy for my love, love´s going to leave me", was something completely different to the other tracks at the time. "I´m Too Sexy" was cheeky, funny and showed the band´s independence. The two brothers definitely didn´t want to follow any trends. Fred recalls the passion they had for the song: "We knew that what we had recorded was absolutely new and different from anything else. We just didn't know how incredibly successful this song would become." As with all success stories, when you think it's going nowhere, fate was suddenly on their side. The band´s manager, who was still a teenager at the time and a firm believer in Right Said Fred, managed to get the song first to DJ Gary Crowley and then to the producer of the Simon Bates Morning Show on BBC Radio 1. Simon played the song and the rest is history. With their 5th album "Stand Up" and the single "Stand Up (For The Champions)", the brothers finally reached their first #1 in Japan. The Cincinnati Wild Cats adopted the song after winning the NFL in 2003, and the song became an incredibly successful sports anthem that was used repeatedly by clubs such as Manchester United, Saracens and the World Cup. The success of "Stand Up" allowed the two brothers to get back on the road and perform shows in arenas and all over the world. They even appeared as special guests at the Bollywood Awards in Mumbai. As a band, they were now financially independent from their first hit "I'm Too Sexy" and reached a new audience with their songs "Stand Up" and "You´re My Mate" - the sports fans. Fred describes this time as something they had never experienced before: "Suddenly the songs were being played in sports arenas, Formula One, NFL fans and at the World Cup. It proved to us that we could still write great songs." from my musical category "daydreamer"My motto: "Not always the often heard hits."

While I really like or love 26 songs from the 6/20/87 countdown, these 9 are my absolute faves: Alone, Lessons In Love, Point Of No Return, Funkytown, Rhythm Is Gonna Get You, I'll Still Be Loving You*, The Pleasure Principle, I Want Your Sex, Looking For A New Love
While I really like or love 24 songs from the 6/28/75 countdown, these 10 are my absolute faves: Wildfire, Listen To What The Man Said, Magic, Sister Golden Hair, One Of These Nights, I'm Not In Love, I'm On Fire, Jive Talkin', The Last Farewell*, Black Friday
Restless Heart and Roger Whittaker are this week's Yes, I'm A Guy & I'll Admit I Love Some Really Mushy Ballads Picks. I love the simple guitars and harmonies on "I'll Still Be Loving You" while I love the grand feel and Roger's deep voice on "The Last Farewell". Both of these songs deserved to peak higher than #33 (ISBLY) and #19 (TLF). Here you go:
BONUS: The flip side from the #38 song on the 6/28/75 show is Kool & The Gang's instrumental "Summer Madness". If you have never heard this, please give it a listen. This song deserved to be the "A" side. Sit back, relax and enjoy:

6/20/87:Atlantic Starr - AlwaysKenny Loggins - Meet Me Half Way Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam - Head To Toe Restless Heart - I´ll Still Be Loving YouSurface - Happy The chance is aliveAustria´s national team has significantly increased its chances of reaching the round of 16 at the European Football Championship in Germany. Team boss Ralf Rangnick´s side beat Poland 3:1 (1:1) in a key game in Berlin on Friday and celebrated their first win in their second Group D match. It was also the first competitive victory for an Austrian team over a Polish side.
Gernot Trauner gave Austria an early lead in front of 71,000 fans in the Olympic Stadium in the ninth minute, but Poland countered before the break with an equalizer through Krzysztof Piatek (30'). In the second half, Christoph Baumgartner put Austria back on the winning track in his 40th international match (66') and Marko Arnautovic put the lid on Austria´s third success at a European Championship and their first over Poland since 1994 with a penalty (78'). And here´s my " sports"-edition of the week: 6/20/87:Bob Seger - Shakedown Crowded House - Something So Strong Gloria Estefan & Miami Sound Machine - Rhythm Is Gonna Get You Motley Crue - Girls, Girls, Girls Pseudo Echo - Funkytown Time for an extra: William PittWilliam Pitt should actually be perfectly happy. He looks so good that he can hardly save himself from girls. What´s more, he has a lucrative job as a dress man - so things are looking pretty golden financially too. But the American has always sought new challenges, which is why he follows the call of the fashion capital par excellence. In Paris, he makes the most important catwalks unsafe until he is approached by a mysterious man at a party. Pascal Pillet-Desjardins is a music producer who suddenly wants to sign William Pitt - without him ever having heard his singing voice. His dancing style alone would prove his musicality.
