The reason we're not getting a regular countdown from 1967 has to do with the ongoing ban of The Turtles on the "60's Gold" channel-Maybe the higher-ups at Sirius/XM will lift that ban in the near future. That reminds me of something I read on somebody's Facebook page (maybe even a SiriusXM affiliated page, I don't remember.) Somebody posted that he did an online search of songs that had been played recently on a particular SiriusXM channel (apparently SiriusXM keeps records of all songs that get played each day on all channels on some archive page). And supposedly this person discovered archival evidence that one particular Turtles song, "You Showed Me", had been recently played several times on another SiriusXM channel other than 60's Gold. That's peculiar, because I thought the Turtles ban applied to all SiriusXM channels. Or maybe---just maybe---that's a clue that this ban may be totally lifted soon.

If the Turtles ban remains, I hope Dave plays a regular 1967 countdown soon. In the month of August, he has available the weeks of 8/5, 8/12, and 8/19, before another Turtles song gums up the works for the next seven weeks ("You Know What I Mean"). As I mentioned in an earlier post, I want Dave to play that stellar song by the Cryan' Shames, "It Could Be We're In Love", as a Staff Pick, and it was in the Hot 100 all three of the aforementioned open weeks.

If the Listener Voted Top 40 aligns with the actual chart peaks during the Summer of 1967--these would be several of the songs we would hear: "Windy" (#1), "Light My Fire" (1), "All You Need Is Love," (1), "Ode To Billy Joe" (1), "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" (2), Little Bit O' Soul (2) and "I Was Made To Love Her (2)."

One more #2 peak that I forgot: "Reflections" by Diana Ross and the Supremes.

Countdown is underway, however--SMH that "I Think We're Alone Now" is a Summer hit! I looked up on UMD and ITWAN spent its last week on the Hot 100 on 6-3-67 at position #46. How would that qualify as a Summer hit when 17 of its weeks would have been mostly in the Spring? I have a feeling someone liked the song and slipped it in the voting.

Wow most of us were either not born or toddlers in 1960! I was eight so the exception to the rule. I liked the way he says Sherman and Mr. Peabody in the way back machine--nice touch there. I know the survey dates were Mondays back then and didn't utilize for the week ending so.......I will guess 7-25-60.

We'll see next Saturday. If it's 7-25-60 the first song he will play is "There's Something On My Mind." If it's 8-1-60 "A Mess Of Blues" and if it's 8-8-60 it's "Sticks and Stones." Those songs were all at #40 for all three possibilities.
