The reason we're not getting a regular countdown from 1967 has to do with the ongoing ban of The Turtles on the "60's Gold" channel-Maybe the higher-ups at Sirius/XM will lift that ban in the near future. That reminds me of something I read on somebody's Facebook page (maybe even a SiriusXM affiliated page, I don't remember.) Somebody posted that he did an online search of songs that had been played recently on a particular SiriusXM channel (apparently SiriusXM keeps records of all songs that get played each day on all channels on some archive page). And supposedly this person discovered archival evidence that one particular Turtles song, "You Showed Me", had been recently played several times on another SiriusXM channel other than 60's Gold. That's peculiar, because I thought the Turtles ban applied to all SiriusXM channels. Or maybe---just maybe---that's a clue that this ban may be totally lifted soon. BREAKING NEWS!! This is a bulletin from the Friends Who Like SiriusXM 60's Gold Facebook page. Somebody posted that this morning between 7:30 and 8:00 EDT, he heard the Deep Tracks channel (channel 27) play (drum roll) "Happy Together" by the Turtles!! And it was this same Facebook page that posted the earlier info that another channel (Spectrum Channel 28) played "You Showed Me" by the Turtles several times in recent weeks. Maybe there's hope yet that this boycott silliness is about to end, if it hasn't already.

One of my favorites from 7-25-60 is "Image of A Girl" from the Safaris.

Knowing that this week's presentation is from 1960,Dave will have time to play a boatload of extras. Should be the usual seven--Staff Picks, #1 in Canada, #1 in England, fabulous flip side and Highest Debut. Normally one of these is played every 5 songs. Dave typically states he is playing an extra, then the Top 35, Top 30 etc.

Show ended at 4:03 pm. Dave is profiling 1968 next week. I am thinking the survey date should be 8-3-68. Interesting story about #1 song, "I'm Sorry." The record company was hesitant about releasing a song by a 15 year old, but went ahead nonetheless. It would be her only #1 record.
She set a record at the time up until Madonna broke the record in 1986 for female solo star with the most consecutive Top 10 hits (nine).
Brenda Lee has been married to the same man, Ronnie Shacklett since 1963! This is amazing with touring, recording, etc.
