Bruce Springsteen has performed "Quarter To Three" in concert but never recorded it-He was instrumental in reviving Gary's career with the top fifteen hit "This Little Girl" in the spring of 1981.

The # 1 song from this week in 1961 was "Quarter To Three" by Gary "U.S." Bonds. It will be a very short show--songs averaged 2 1/2 minutes. I had hoped for a July 4th Special. Soon we will be getting a 1967 episode, as soon as "She'd Rather Be With Me" drops out of the Top 40, which was 7-22-67.

I wish the management at Sirius/XM would lift their ban on The Turtles-That's the only band they don't feature on the "60's Gold" channel.

Next week will be 1968, and #1, assuming Dave does 7-20-68 with be "Grazing In The Grass" by Hugh Masekela.

I wasn't aware that Les Paul & Mary Ford had a top forty hit in the 60's-Their heyday was in the pre-rock era.

Looking forward to 1968-That will be a lengthy countdown. "Sky Pilot" by the Animals and "MacArthur Park" by Richard Harris are definitely the two songs that will make it longer.

Long show today, ending at 4:40. Dave cut "Sky Pilot", which is very rare for him. Next week is 1965, and regardless if he goes with 7-24 or 7-31 in 1965, #1 is "Satisfaction" by the Rolling Stones. It still strikes me as odd that "Wooly Bully" became the #1 record of 1965, when "Satisfaction" spent 4 weeks at #1. "Wooly Bully" only peaked at #2, but apparently accumulated more weeks on the Hot 100.

How "Wooly Bully" wound up as the # 1 song of 1965 is a head scratcher-"Satisfaction" is way better in my opinion.
