Rangers @ Rays, then Wrestlemania XXX from 5pm-11pm. My shows for this coming week are loaded up, I get my first special of the year with the Top 40 British songs of the Rock Era. And this is a week with the messing Casey's Top 40 shows (4/9/94). But, I do have the Weekly Top 40 from that date and it's the same chart so better than nothing. And no Long Distance Request & Dedications.

4/7/90 and a song that was listed on another thread earlier today was part of a first that Shadoe just mentioned. "Shout" was the 50s hit that helped Ronald Isley become the first artist to have hits in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s with the latter decade represented by a cover of his Isley Brothers' hit "This Old Heart of Mine by himself and Rod Stewart.

I just finished 3/31/79 and now have moved on to 4/14/79, which means I get to hear "Tragedy" by the Bee Gees back-to-back, as it was number one on the former countdown and the number three song and the first song for the top three recap from 4/7/79.
I'm the only one at work here in my wing, so I can blast the music (almost) as loud as I want. What a great day to be able to do so, with all of the disco songs featured on both shows. I LOVE 1979!!!!

Just reached the summit of the 4/8/1989 show. Shadoe informed me that Roxette's "The Look" was the third number one song in AT40 by an act from Sweden, and that all three hit the top on the VERY SAME WEEK of the year.
In 1974, it was Blue Swede and "Hooked on a Feeling" ascending to the top of the chart on April 6. Three years later in 1977, "Dancing Queen" by ABBA attained chart nirvana on April 9.
Then, of course, I remembered that the Swedish group Ace of Base hit a home run with "The Sign" in 1994...and spent the first week of April at number one, on the chart week of 4/1.
Ah, symmetry.

The countdown from this date in 1977 is playing right now. That means two consecutive days with a Swedish act at number one for me (Roxette from 1989 yesterday, ABBA today).

Hmm, I think I have...check that...I know I have a Swedish act waiting for me at #1 on this 4/9/94 show. Paul heard this yesterday I think too. Anyway, what is with the 2+ minute end of the hour theme at this time? It's longer than some songs!

Listening to AT40 from 4/9/94 today and I have no idea why the opening was the wrong opening and these close of hour themes are that long. My ffwd button is getting a lot of use on this show!

Listening to AT40 from 4-17-71. I like the later shows from the late 70's because of Casey's voice. I just think that Casey's voice sounds weird in this show.

By 4/71, he was definitely morphing into what I consider his "Quiet Casey" phase. Quite a difference from the "Cornholio" Casey of the 1979 show. at40fg.proboards.com/thread/3141/caseys

Same cinema, different suite vis-a-vis Paul for me....AT10 from 4/10/04. Probably the same #1 song though seeing as how whatever is #1 stays there for 10 weeks give or take a week or 2.
