Just finished Casey's Top 40 from 4/1/95 and this is no April Fool's joke. There are 9 artists who either had one big hit and/or several top 40 hits that were having their last such hit in this show. Firehouse, Londonbeat, Human League, Van Halen*, Eagles, Simple Minds, Jade, Bonnie Raitt and Annie Lennox.
*Their next hit "Not Enough" topped out at 40 actually which someone was posting about the other day. Wondering how many songs peaked at 40 on R&R. Not sure if that was one of the songs he listed but if not, there is another one.

Today is the 80s show from this past weekend, 3/26/1988. I was disappointed to hear that - once again - "Electric Blue" by Icehouse was edited for length. Whether it's in the countdown or used as an extra, I think this song is edited in every show I have in which it is featured.

4/2/83...Casey said that the tie between GM and Ford for most song titles mentioning one of their model cars was broken by "Little Red Corvette". Gave GM a 4-3 lead. So maybe pointpark's show has the song that makes it 5-3 GM. Or was/were there any song titles in between? (Pink Cadillac)

Another future #1 song is only up one notch to 16...Beat It. And a future #2 song is up only two notches to 12....Jeopardy. Moves like that for future #1 or #2 hits IN THE TOP 10 are normal but outside it. Hmm, very odd. No I don't look at the chart before I listen to a show! Ah but Pete's book gives it away somewhat. The top 11 positions are unchanged!

I just entered top 10 territory of April 4, 1981. The first 20 songs saw me skip through 13 of them, as I really don't need to hear "Take it on the Run" by REO or "Ain't Even Done with the Night" by JCM ever again in my lifetime. In contrast, the top 20 is playing virtually non-stop, with a few lost gems, such as "The Best of Times" by Styx and "Her Town Too" by JT and JD.
At number 10 was "What Kind of Fool" by Barbra and Barry. To me, both Ms. Streisand and the Bee Gees are way under appreciated in America. Two acts responsible for many great songs from the 1970s, yet I rarely hear the former on any of my local radio stations, and just a few songs from the latter.
This country was a much better place when both acts were frequently featured on the radio.

Within the next several weeks, things began to return more "normal" chart action...

I listened to this show last year and brought it up here. Apparently it wasn't unusual for that to happen. And I found out if a song had a bullet it could not drop even if a song below it actually should now be above it. I believe IIRC most or all of them did.

Rangers @ Rays, then Wrestlemania XXX from 5pm-11pm.
My shows for this coming week are loaded up, I get my first special of the year with the Top 40 British songs of the Rock Era. And this is a week with the messing Casey's Top 40 shows (4/9/94). But, I do have the Weekly Top 40 from that date and it's the same chart so better than nothing.
