Don't know if this thread will catch on, I tried to search to see if anyone had started such a thread, to no avail. Thought it might be interesting to hear what shows other folks are currently listening to, in the car, at work, home......whereever. Doesn't have to be restricted to just Casey Kasem shows. Since the AT40 shows air so early on saturday morning here, dont really get a chance to listen to them, since i'm sleeping, so I typically will either listen to it later or pick a random show to listen to. If for some reason I'm out on a sunday night, I might tune in WQSR to hear AT40 but almost always I'm @home on sunday nites, especially now that I'm recording the Rick Dees 90's shows off WINC on sunday nights. For those I do occasionally listen in to the recording as its recording (plus reception of WQSR is not the greatest).
Right now I'm listening to 1/28/84, in the car, to an from work, errands etc. This is one of those shows, probably the show in my collection thats closest to when I started listening to the top40 radio. So some of the songs are vaguely familiar and some are very familiar. Quite intersting. And since I recorded it off WINC back in 2010, the sound is awesome.
Last week I was listening to Rick Dee's top 96 of 1996.

Right now, I'm going through the top 10 of the 1/6/1979 show, guest host Marc Elliott.
Later, I'll be listening to 2/10/1979 in its entirety.
I have enough shows now that I practically can listen to a different one each day, from the same time period in a given year. Yesterday, I heard the 2/5/1977 show. Tomorrow will likely be 2/9/1985.

I have a 45 min commute so I will listen to 2 shows a week, 10 songs a trip. This week its 2/1/86 from Premiere and 2/10/90 from my collection.

Right now, I'm going through the top 10 of the 1/6/1979 show, guest host Marc Elliott. So have you heard the song at #9 yet? One of the more infamous errors in AT40 history... BTW, I am catching up from last week--listening to the 2/1/75 show. |

I listen to a show on its anniversary every day. Today is the Casey's Top 40 from 2/11/95. Casey just did a tribute to Bob Marley who would have been 50 that week. He died in 1981. Last night I started listening to the AT40 from 2/10/90 until about an hour in, I realized I had already heard it. So it ended up being the CT40 from 2/10/96 or one year later than tonight's show.
BTW, some days I listen to 2 shows and 2/11/78 would be the second show today if I had time.

What Current weekend show u talkin about? and man thats quite a lot of shows to listen to every week. I thought u had lost your collection of shows Paul? After moving out of your house, the new residents thru away your box of shows that u left in the garage? Somtimes I'll take a couple different current Dee's shows an re-edit it into a top40 that I actually like  Just finished up w/ 1/28/84, that top 10 was horrid. I fast forward thru every song cept 2: Romantics and the #1 song by Yes! The top 10 actually I recorded from WQSR. I guess I forgot to tape the top10 from WINC and caught WQSR the next night. Not sure what I'll start listening to tommrow yet. |
