On AT40: The 80's 4/8/1978: "Before My Heart Finds Out" by Gene Cotton was very short! The printed time on the label is 2:30. It is just a short song. Total running time on the 4-8-78 show for Gene was 1 minute 24 seconds. First verse, chorus,no second verse, short bridge, chorus and then the end.

First verse, chorus,no second verse, short bridge, chorus and then the end. I think it was more like first verse, chorus, end. I don't think the song even has a bridge, unless there's a longer album version of it that I don't know about.

And Premiere shortened for AT40: The 80's 4/11/1981 "While You See a Chance". I seem to recall that song having a shorter version that you'd sometimes hear on regular radio. That always annoyed me.

Let's Go All the Way on the 4/19/1986 show had an abrupt-sounding edit at the end of the song; it went from the "Whoo!" after the "Hollywood squares are living in Disneyland" line to the "na na na na na" ending.

I was listening to the AT40 Flashback version of the May 29, 1982 show yesterday and noticed that "Still In Saigon", my favorite song on the countdown (#22) was edited, cutting out the second verse (and one of the choruses). Was it like that on the original broadcast of the show (or the Premiere rebroadcast in 2016)? It's shortened in the original, so it'd for sure also be shortened in the Premiere version. The song wasn't edited in the 5/22 show. It was also edited (the same way) on this week's 1982 show. Were there other shows where the song was given the hack job?

For the AT40 extra of "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge on AT40: The 80's 4/24/1982 the first chorus and verse were omitted though the album version was played with parts you never heard in the single version following the third part of singing the chorus - Premiere edit, I guess?

What about the edit of "The Logical Song", the second OE on the 1979 show. They linked the first and second chorus together, but the line "Won't you please, please tell me what we've learned/I know it sounds absurd/But please tell me who I am" (actually, since I could hear where it was edited, they actually said "Please tell me who I Ann"). Methinks they meant to include that line once, but edited in the wrong place.

It was all Premiere, because this wasn't part of the original show. "We Are Family" debuted three weeks later on 5/12.

That's the wrong date, they were actually referring to an original AT40 Extra of "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge from April 24th, 1982 (4/24/1982).

Looks like I was wrong. 😂 (Well, right but wrong.) Good catch. You know the saying goes, "When you have a 50/50 chance of getting it right, you're wrong 90% of the time." Funny how that works.

On AT40: The 80's 5/10/1980 "Working My Way Back To You/Forgive Me Girl" by the Spinners ended with the beginning of the last "Working My Way..." chorus following the "Forgive Me Girl" lines. I guess it's an original Watermark edit and not Premiere's.

On AT40: The 80's 5/19/1984: I didn't mind editing the second verse/chorus on "Eyes Without a Face", but another song called "Jump For My Love" by the Pointer Sisters had its second verse/chorus edited out - Is that Premiere's hatchet job?

Another song on AT40: The 80's 5/19/1984 that might have gotten the hatchet job from Premiere: "The Heart of Rock 'n Roll" by Huey Lewis and the News omitting the second verse/chorus.
