"Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone)" by Glass Tiger had the first chorus (the one where Bryan Adams does NOT sing "my heart would break") and the third verse edited out. That was Premiere; song wasn't edited in the original.

The edit of Reminicing by LRB on this week's 1978 show was awful. Most of the ending of the song was cut off. Not to mention that they went right from the first verse to the final chorus. I wonder what the song's playing time was? Well, the song in my library is 3:28, and the song in the segment is 2:52, which also closed out the first hour. So the song's playing time was under 2 minutes (between Casey's intro and when he comes back in for the outro, followed very shortly by the end-of-hour theme). And it was edited in the original show (surprise there, not!).

Did Premiere shorten the #40 song of "I Always Love My Mama" on AT40: The 70's 8/11/1973? No, it was shortened in the original show...the track is 3:19, but some of that is the show open. The unedited song is 3:28.

Oily Stools Award Of The Week. A bad, bad premiere edit of Deep Purple's "Smoke On The Water". I know that the song has been played to death the last 48+ years, but cutting the song off before Ritchie Blackmore's classic guitar solo in the bridge of the song? Yeah, Premiere did that one. One thing I noticed, is the song is in mono in my copy; almost six months after the shows started being produced in stereo. The AT40 staff must've not had a stereo copy of the single. The 6/23/1973 show is in stereo, however, it sounds like it was edited in - during Casey's intro, it was in mono.

On AT40: The 70's 9/10/1977: "Star Wars Theme/Cantina Band" by Meco might have had a Premiere butcher edit by omitting much of the "Star Wars Theme" part going into the "Cantina Band" part.

On AT40: The 80's 9/5/1987 - was the question letter about non #1 singles certified platinum originally between #38 and #37 omitted by Premiere?
UPDATE: Just found out that question was pushed to 9/19/1987 - might have been an error on the original 9/5/1987 AT40 cue sheet to put the question on 9/5/1987.

The cue sheet for 9/5 is wrong; it's not in my original copy of the 9/5 show, but it is there in the 9/19 show (and the corresponding cue sheet reflects that). This post should technically be in the Cue Sheet Errors thread, though I can see a place for it here.

On AT40: The 80's 9/22/1984 "If Ever You're In My Arms Again" by Peabo Bryson had the second verse/chorus omitted - Original or Premiere edit?

That was an original edit, which the last part of the first verse through the first part of the second verse was cut out. It was also the last week in the 40 for that song.

And Peabo wouldn't make AT40 again until 1992 when he did a duet with Celene Dion called "Beauty and the Beast" from the Disney animated movie of the same name.

On AT40: The 70's 10/6/1979: Did Premiere shorten "Good Girls Don't" by the Knack omitting a verse from the song? I think so, but I'm not sure. The original cue sheet lists the segment with that and "Where Were You When I Was Falling In Love" as 6:23, which is pretty short. In any case, that edit struck me as something that shouldn't have been necessary: much of the point of the four hour shows was to minimize the need to edit songs, and "Good Girls Don't" is only 3:07 to start with.

I can listen to my original copy later today and report back, but I also think it was a Premiere edit. I've noticed over the years it's more likely to be an original edit if it's late in the 3-hour era, and also late in the original Casey era. It's much more likely to be a Premiere edit in the early part of the 4-hour era (or almost anytime 😂).

On AT40: The 80's 10/4/1986 (now airing on WXXM Rewind 92.1 FM Madison on time around 8 AM this Sunday 10/3/2021 morning!), the #39 song "Word Up" by Cameo had the second verse and chorus omitted. Was it Premiere?
