James, that was the original single edit of 'Lyin' eyes'. No editing done on that 1. I figured you were right until I heard the show again. They cut out the line "My oh my..." and went straight to the chorus. I think the ending my have been cut too.

This week on WTOJ you'll hear an UNEDITED version of the 1978 countdown. This was the last week for the 3 hour show and AT40 needed to edit a lot of songs to make it fit. However, this week on WTOJ, no Premiere edits, no AT40 edits. Every song as released on 45. Radio station edits will be there, so you'll get the 3:22 version of "Who Are You", but that's what you heard on Top 40 radio in 1978. Yes, the countdown will run long, but that's OK. Starts 9 AM Eastern, Sunday morning.

You are THE man Ken. A few years ago, I thought that someone could somehow come up with a third hour for the missing third hour of the second ever AT40 show. You did it. And for just as long, I thought someone could edit in longer songs for the later 3 hour shows when songs were edited left and right. Yours truly has been doing that for awhile actually but none of those are broadcastable (not a word oh well, it's too late for me to figure out a word for that!. And lo and behold, you have done that too! Nothing is beyond your abilities evidently!

I know that the AT40 staff was pleased when they finally expanded the show to 4 hours, the next week. Much less editing of songs.

Great job on the 1978 show Ken Martin. I have been doing a similar thing with the 3 hour shows starting with 1975. Had wondered these last couple years when doing that if something of this nature would be done officially. So this is a significant development for this to come to fruition at least on WTOJ. I had done this editing on the 9/16/78 show and edited in the Lp versions of songs like "Reminiscing", "Who Are You" and "Don't Look Back". You were limited to the 45 versions of those songs which I can understand as on the latter two anyway, the LP version is almost twice as long. BTW, isn't this also the last countdown in Casey's career with no additional songs? He counted the 40 songs and that was it.

On the 10-6-79 show, 'Good girls don't' had the instrumental solo, and last verse cut off.

On the 10-5-85 show, 'We built this city's verse with Grace Slick on lead was removed. Premiere had to've done that, 'cause it was only in its 2nd week on the countdown.

On the 10-6-79 show, 'Good girls don't' had the instrumental solo, and last verse cut off. I wonder why they did that? They have plenty of time to play the whole song.

Rihanna's "Disturbia" had a rather awkward edit when it was on the chart. She says "s***" in the second verse and instead of just bleeping the word out or something, they play part of the intro over it.

Weird edit on 'Legend of Wooley swamp'. The FIRST verse was omitted.

The editing of "All Out of Love" on 10/11/80 was awful, whether it was done originally or by Premiere. They skipped right from the second verse to the second half of one of the choruses after the bridge.
