www.tmz.com/2013/10/01/casey-kasem-family-feud-wife-kids-jean-kasem-children-parkinsons-disease/ "Casey Kasem ... the legendary DJ who hosted America's Top 40 for decades, is in dire condition, and a family feud has erupted between Casey's kids and their stepmom.
Jean Kasem -- Casey's wife -- will NOT allow Kerri, Julie and Mike to visit their father, who lives in the exclusive Holmby Hills area near Bev Hills. We're told they've been trying to make contact with their dad for 3 months, to no avail.
Casey -- who is 81 and has advanced Parkinson's -- hasn't been heard from in months.
The kids are outside the house right now ... with a group of friends, family and former co-workers of Casey -- and we're told Jean has just called the cops trying to get them away from the property.
Casey's brother, who is on the scene, tells TMZ Jean has had a strained relationship with Casey's kids for years. The brother says he hasn't spoken with Jean since Casey married her -- 33 years. Kerri, Casey's oldest daughter, tells us Jean has aggressively blocked the kids from the house.
Kerri tells us it's not about money. The kids have all been excluded from Casey's will and they've known that for a long time. She says they just want to see their dad, and they can't."Granted it's TMZ.... but the videos on their site are... disturbing.

He has Parkinson's??? I never knew that. I never knew any of this as a matter of fact.
I'm not a regular of the glorified stalkers at TMZ. But anytime I've seen them report something I've noticed it's true. This is very sad. I would hope they can work their differences out at least for Casey's sake until he passes away.
Is the guy holding the best friend sign Don?

Very sad to hear, though I can believe the Parkinson's diagnosis in light of what I've read; Mike Kasem and Don Bustany have said that Casey's had trouble communicating recently, that he often wants to say something and has trouble getting the words out right, which is a common symptom of Parkinson's, particularly in the advanced stages.
I'm not sure, but I think the man with the mustache walking up behind the woman with the "Casey, We Are Your Voice Now" sign at about 16 seconds into the clip may well be Don Bustany. It does look like him.

That explains the Casey Kasem Appreciation Day video I saw a few years back. He was speaking to I think John Waite and he was having a lot of trouble it seemed saying what he was trying to.
This may also explain the abrupt decision to end AT10/AT20.

Please check your facts before believing something from TMZ. I don't think that Casey or his wife Jean would act like this. Sounds like gossip to me and needs to be verified before we accept it as true. Let's wait until Rob, Scott, Pete or Shannon comment further.

Unfortunately, I do believe the story. Why would Kerri Kasem and Casey's brother do something like this if it were completely false? For someone who was always as active and busy as Casey was his whole life, there is a reason he hasn't been heard from or seen in any way, shape or form now for three and a half years. The last appearance I can think of was in March 2010 when he appeared in a Sprint commercial, and even then, you could tell he was much older and frailer than we were used to. I figured something was up even back in 2009 when he declined all interviews regarding the decision to end his shows, and my suspicions grew as he seemed to go from outspoken activist to being in seclusion. i understand wanting to leave the spotlight, but it is sad if Jean is truly the issue here. Their marriage always seemed strong, you would think she would want to do it for his kids. additional links: www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/gossip/casey-kasem-family-feuding-kids-protest-stepmom-article-1.1473114abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?section=news/hollywood_wrap&id=9270252I met Casey in 2008 at Casey Kasem Day. While he was definitely showing signs of age, never once did Parkinsons ever enter my mind. He was slower with his words and thoughts, but still was fairly quick on his feet and spoke to the crowd. I will cherish my meeting with him more than ever now.

Just watched the video in the abc link, and sadly, I don't have any reason to think it isn't true now

Family feuds can be horrendous and one cannot know the reality in full from a distance, but the involvement of long-term family friends and a brother as well as his children suggest that they are blocked from him and that there has been a gulf between Casey's wife and children for a long time. The whole thing is tragic; of course, sadly, it does not sound like Casey is in any position to control the circumstances.

Just watched the video in the abc link, and sadly, I don't have any reason to think it isn't true now Exactly. The video is pretty much the reason you can't deny it. There'd be no reason for his kids, family, and friends to hold up signs out in front of their home clowns if it wasn't. I can't imagine this is a publicity stunt. Again, when I've looked at TMZ once in a blue moon over the years they are right more often than wrong. They are glorified stalkers but they are more glorified stalker journalists meaning they get the truth than glorified stalker tabloid writers who write whatever to grab attention. I do think there's possibly a side to this no one has talked about. What if Jean is actually carrying out Casey's wishes. Perhaps his condition has gotten so bad that he doesn't want anyone to see him that way. Doesn't explain why she doesn't just come out and say that though.

I rushed over here after I clicked on a link on Yahoo's homepage. I always crap my pants when an older celebrity shows up trending...
My prayers are with him and his family.

Many have been wondering about Casey's health since his last show in 2009. To find out under these circumstances is so unfortunate! Let's hope all family issues can be resolved and this does not get prolonged.
This may sound strange but the fact that Kerri and the others have resorted to a public protest over this reminds me of the Al Jarvis story Casey told several times.

As you all probably know, Casey did the voice of Shaggy's father on the last iteration of the Scooby Doo TV franchise. He sounded awful on the few occasions he made an appearance. It breaks my heart.

Did not know that. Was this new version the kids of the original having grown up now? Or was it the same characters just he voiced a different person?

Did not know that. Was this new version the kids of the original having grown up now? Or was it the same characters just he voiced a different person? The latter. Recently there was a Cartoon Network show called "Scooby Doo! Mystery Incorporated", in which Casey occasionally voiced the role of Colton Rogers, Shaggy's father. Matthew Lillard "inherited" the Shaggy role from Casey.
