Maybe not quite as good as 1982, nothing can top Charlene, but this 1984 show's got a hold on me! H&O, Rick Springfield, Willie and Julio, the Romantics not talking in their sleep! MJ, errrr, Rockwell and Weird Al! If you don't like it, Don't Answer Me! LVK is American!

The Matthew Wilder song is incredibly hokey, even by '84 standards. Aside from that, lots of great stuff including gems from Tony Carey and The Romantics which seem to get no play on classic stations.

Lost in last weekend's 1983 shadow was a sneaky good 1976. OMG, the entire first hour and a half is like a lost hits of the 1970s CD. Then the 2nd half had H&O, Bellamy Bros, and one of my favorite #1s ever! Happy Days back then!

As with the XM thread, any guesses why the thread creator here is now 'deleted'?

It's hard to followup 1983, but 1981 can do it with H&O x2, Santana, TG Sheppard! Discoy Clapton! Somebody's Knockin' but I'm too busy enjoying this show to answer! Me too!

Another solid weekend. Not the strongest 1988 chart but a heavy dose of Commentary Casey makes up for it. Then I get the feeling that I'm in way over my head, I should be careful but I'm goin deeper instead with Charlene, Elt, H&O, & that wascally Rabbitt!

I really liked this week's 1987 show (June 13, '87). Some songs barely make the cut for me, or I'm tired of them, but I still really enjoyed it.

Just listened to 4/26/80 again -- that show isn't totally perfect (I don't think any show is), but has to rank in my top 10 of all time. So many great songs, many of which almost never get recurrent airplay.
Also listened to the 3/9/85 show earlier this year. March 1985 might be my favorite month of top 40 music ever. Two or three songs that I would say are merely "decent" and the other 37-38 are really good to great.

Really can't go wrong with any 1979 show, even after disco's fall. I heard all the 1979 shows last year. Lots of ear candy, IMO.

I posted before that 6/30/79 is one of those shows that's about as close as it comes to perfect for me (Rex Smith's dreadful "Take My Breath Away" is the only real dud) -- 6/23/79 appears to be just as good, if not maybe even slightly better. "In the Navy" is another song I can do without, and John Denver's "Annie's Song" is an unfortunate archive extra, but overall just a great show on tap for the coming weekend...

This Top Ten, or those within a few weeks of it, have to be the highest energy Top Tens in Top 40 history. It's like early 1972 in reverse. Rex belonged there. I think we should trade him for Down By The Lazy River
