It's no surprise to me that Gary US Bonds' song "Out Of Work" was written by Bruce Springsteen, since it's very similar to "Cover Me."

How many people thought when they first heard "Tarzan Boy", that it sounded like it was done by Wang Chung? I misheard the lyrics as "night to night, givin me odor, givin me odor" when it's really "night to night, gimme the other, gimme the other chance tonight." Great call on "Tarzan Boy" sounding like Wang Chung. That's exactly what I thought too.

Shake It by Ian Matthews sounds like a Stephen Bishop song.

INXS's 1993 hit "Beautiful Girl" sounds like John Cougar's 1981 hit "Ain't Even Done With The Night". Totally does. I could play one song in my head, and go right into the other seamlessly. Ironically, both songs are in the last two shows I heard today, 3/14/1981 and 3/13/1993. I'm a little ahead of schedule.

At first I thought Janet Jackson's "Black Cat" was Pat Benatar. Even the way she sings the first few verses sounds like PB.

I recently put together a Top 30 list for May 1971 using my 45 collection. I noticed that "Toast And Marmalade For Tea" by Tin Tin sounded like The Bee Gees at that time. Both acts were on the ATCO label. Another thing that struck me is that Barry Manilow's 1975 hit "It's A Miracle" sounds a little bit like "I Don't Blame You At All" by The Miracles. Coincidence?

In the 1990s there were two R&B-based groups that hit the pop chart -- Hi-Five and Soul For Real. I feel like their songs are interchangeable.

After hearing Paul Stookey's "Wedding Song" from 1971, I thought he sounded like Gerry Rafferty or does Gerry Rafferty sound like Paul Stookey? However you want to phrase it.

Here's another. I think the instrumental parts of Robert Plant's "Tall Cool One" are rather similar to John Mellencamp's "ROCK In The USA."

Both acts were on the ATCO label. Maurice Gibb produced Tin Tin's first LP, in 1970, and was executive producer of their 2nd LP, 1971's "Astral Taxi", which contained both "Toast" and it's #59 follow-up, "Is That the Way". Member Steve Kipner, who sang both of their U.S. chart hits, later became a successful songwriter: "Physical", "Hard Habit To Break", and others.

After hearing Hipsway's "The Honey Thief" on the 3-14-87 show, I thought that they sounded like Simple Minds. Strangely enough, both acts are from Scotland.
