I thought at the time Motortown by Kane Gang was the new one Barry Manilow! It does sound just like something from Barry's Pretzel Logic or Katy Lied albums. Or maybe from Manilow Live. Okay so if anyone here understands the joke I was trying to make with this seven years ago can you please explain it because I have no friggin idea. EDIT - Oh okay I just listened to it. It sounds like Steely Dan. I think these were the only two times in my life I ever heard that song.

So you had to "Do It Again" while "Reeling In The Years" ... your explanation could've waited 'til "Black Friday"

Different beat, but melodically, Find Another Fool by Quarterflash sounds a lot like Invincible by Pat Benatar.
Speaking of which, wow, Pat Benatar. She should have been a superstar.

I noticed a familiar melody on Crystal Gayle's "Half The Way". The way that she sings the verses of that song reminded me of the 1974 hit by The Three Degrees "When Will I See You Again."

How many people thought when they first heard "Tarzan Boy", that it sounded like it was done by Wang Chung? I misheard the lyrics as "night to night, givin me odor, givin me odor" when it's really "night to night, gimme the other, gimme the other chance tonight."

"Material Girl" by Madonna & "Can You Feel It" by the Jacksons & "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane. "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson and 'I Can't Go For That" by Hall & Oates. "At this Moment" by Billy Vera & "One More Try" by George Michael. The opening riff of "Message In A Bottle" by the Police & the chorus of "Photograph" by Def Leppard.

The bass at the beginning of John Hunter's 1985 hit "Tragedy" reminds me of the beginning of Paul Carrack's 1982 solo hit "I Need You".

It was my perspective back in the early-mid 80s that Pat *was* a superstar. She had lots of radio hits and was a constant presence on MTV. I certainly liked her music and thought she was one of the biggest stars of that era. However, it doesn't seem as though she gets her due for her work from that time. She still tours and gets play on classic hits stations, but it does seem as though she just doesn't get mentioned much by people covering that period of music. I don't get it.

On AT40: The 70's 1/17/1976: "Let's Live Together" by the Road Apples sounds like it should have been recorded by Eric Clapton.
