After scrolling through some posts earlier today, I had my Discover Weekly list on Spotify playing. There was an instrumental by B.T. Express called "Express" which sounded like The Average White Band's "Pick Up The Pieces" except AWB had no choo choo in their instrumental.

While listening to last week's 80's show I decided that T.G. Shepherd's "I Loved 'Em Every One" sounds a lot like "So Into You" by Atlanta Rhythm Section.

I bought some 45's at a Record store called Homers yesterday , and there were two that I bought that sounded similar. Chicago's "What Kind of Man Would I Be" sounded a lot like Asia's "The Smile Has Left Your Eyes" I just listened to the B side of the Chicago single, and it's that crappy re-recorded version of "25 Or 6 To 4"- The one that sounds like Frida's "I Know There's Something Going On" than the 1970 original. Homers - that's great! I used to buy all my records and cassette tapes there when I lived in Omaha as a kid. Was a great store--the staff were always helpful and very knowledgeable when it came to music. Glad to hear they are still around...

I ran across Leon Haywood's "I Want'a Do Something Freaky To You" the other day, and found the chorus similar to "Smiling Faces Sometimes " by The Undisputed Truth. Of Course Leon Haywood's song became popularized when it was sampled in Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg's "Nuthin But A G Thang" in 1992 from Dre's "The Chronic" album. BTW, what an eventful week at Eppley Airport here in Omaha. One night we had 96 mph winds, and another night we had a guy high on meth, streaking down the runway, and crashing a pick up truck into a parked plane! I guess there should have been a parody of The Police song titled "Every Meth You Take" LOL

Went back in time to 1988 earlier today and heard "How Can I Fall" by Breathe. That song reminds me a lot of Little River Band's 1979 hit "Cool Change."

"Strut" by Sheena Easton always reminded me of "Urgent" by Foreigner.

I went back in time to 1988 again. After listening to Glenn Frey's "True Love", I thought it sounded like Karla Bonoff's 1982 hit "Personally" with a touch of Johnny Burnette/Ringo Starr's "You're Sixteen".

Ian Matthews 1978 hit "Shake It" reminds me of Stephen Bishop's 1977 hit "Save It For A Rainy Day" From last week's 1981 show, Marty Balin's "Atlanta Lady" reminded me of a song from this week's 1979 show-Lobo's "Where Were You When I Was Falling In Love". Some people back in 1979 might have thought that Lobo's hit could have been mistaken for Marty Balin since he did leave Jefferson Starship that year, and shortly after, Jefferson Starship ushered in the Mickey Thomas era with "Jane" from their album "Freedom At Point Zero".

I have a couple lost hits of the 80's. Toto's "Stranger In Town" reminds me of Olivia Newton John's "Twist Of Fate" from a year earlier. Pete Townshend's "Face The Face" sounds a lot like The Pointer Sisters' "Neutron Dance".

Never thought of this till now, while listening to the January 28, 1978 show on KOKZ:
Wow, Leo Sayer, on the verse of "Easy To Love" sounds just like Boz Scaggs. Amazing.

"Come and Get it" by Badfinger sounds like the Beatles. And so it should, as it was written and produced by Paul McCartney, who recorded a demo of it in early 1969. Badfinger covered the demo note for note. McCartney's demo later turned up on the Beatles' CD Anthology 3 in 1996. Casey mentioned repeatedly in 1970 that "No Matter What" sounded like the Beatles, but I don't hear it. I think it sounds more like the Guess Who.

When I first heard "Coco Jamboo" back in 1997, I thought it was Ace Of Base...until I found out it was by Mr. President.

I was listening to Think I'm In Love loud with headphones on the other day and it reminded me of Crazy Train. Never noticed it before.

Until today I always thought vocals on Baby, Now That I Found You were by Steve Winwood.

I've always thought that Exile's "Kiss You All Over" was more or less a country version of Barry White's "It's Ectasy When You Lay Down Next To Me".
