- Taylor Swift "Shake It Off" > Elton John "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting" (again, in the refrain) Take the guitar riff from "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting", replace it with synthesizer, and you pretty much have the instrumental hook for Laura Branigan's "Gloria". I remember when "Gloria" came out in 1982 thinking that it somewhat ripped off "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting". The chorus and keyboard riff of "Gloria" seems to closely mimic the aforementioned guitar riff and EJ's repeated singing of the word "Saturday"...

I have two pairs here- Gino Vannelli's "Living Inside Myself" sounds a lot like "After The Love Is Gone" by Earth Wind And Fire. The other is Olivia Newton John's "Make A Move On Me" sounds a lot like "The Wanderer" by Donna Summer. BTW, I heard a current hit on the radio the other day which was a rip off melody of Captain & Tenille's "Do That To Me One More Time" Forgive me-I just can't keep up with current artists!

I recently listened to two lost hits from 1989. The first one was The Escape Club's "Shake For The Sheik" which I found that sounded like the 1984 hit by Billy Idol "Flesh For Fantasy." The second one was Roachford's "Cuddly Toy" which sounds like Aldo Nova's 1982 hit "Fantasy" if it were sung by George Michael.

Going all the way back to 1961: Runaround Sue by Dion is a dead ringer for Quarter To Three by Gary (U.S.) Bonds. In fact it happened so much in the early days of the rock era (the first ten years or so--1955-65) I am surprised there weren't more lawsuits ala My Sweet Lord Vs. He's So Fine.

I always thought that the bridge in the 1975 hit by The 4 Seasons "Who Loves You" sounded a lot like the old theme to the TV show "The People's Court" Wonder if there were any LEGAL issues involving that one LOL. Uh-Oh five minutes to Wapner!

Sheena Easton's "Telefone (Long Distance Love Affair)" reminds me of Laura Branigan's "Gloria".

Almost a direct rip off here-Chico DeBarge "Talk To Me" (1987) sounds a lot like Janet Jackson "What Have You Done For Me Lately" (1986)

I remember when "Everything Changes" by Kathy Troccoli first came out, I thought it was Taylor Dayne.

Jimmy Harnen & Synch's 1986/1989 hit "Where Are You Now" reminds me a lot of a hit from this week's 4-11-81 show- Climax Blues Band's "I Love You"

I remember when "Everything Changes" by Kathy Troccoli first came out, I thought it was Taylor Dayne. Kathy had her own CCM career during the 80's but became linked to Taylor Dayne, as she had done backing vocals and session work for her in the early '90s--may have something to do with the similar sound and production of that song to Taylor Dayne's music of the time. The song was one of Diane Warren's, but not sure if it was originally written with Taylor Dayne in mind?

Donna Allen's 1987 hit "Serious" reminds me of Jane Child's 1990 hit "Don't Wanna Fall In Love".

I bought some 45's at a Record store called Homers yesterday , and there were two that I bought that sounded similar. Chicago's "What Kind of Man Would I Be" sounded a lot like Asia's "The Smile Has Left Your Eyes" I just listened to the B side of the Chicago single, and it's that crappy re-recorded version of "25 Or 6 To 4"- The one that sounds like Frida's "I Know There's Something Going On" than the 1970 original.
