“Jet Airliner” mentions the 707, which is no longer in use for passenger service.

Not actually a top 40 hit, but one that gets a lot of play this time of year (I heard it shopping in Target this evening):
"Christmas Wrapping" by the Waitresses says "A&P has provided me with the world's smallest turkey". A&P was once the nation's leading grocery chain; it was declining but still popular when that song was first released in the early 1980s. It continued to decline in later decades and ceased to exist in 2015.

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Xmas: Everywhere you go take a look in the five-and-ten However, in a decade or so, dollar stores may eventually become "Five-and-Ten" (as in $5 and $10). I was just telling a friend that the phrase "dollar store" is a bit of a misnomer already. LOL. Does Dollar Tree, Dollar General, Family Dollar, and/or Five Below count as being the next "Five and Ten"?

Oxo in "Whirly Girl":
"Like a spinning top, she's got no stop."
I wonder how many of today's young people would understand that definition of "top."
