Are iPods no longer made? Asking seriously, as I've never owned one, nor never will. I assumed they were still around. I think they are making just one model now, and it came out over two years ago. They are becoming, rather quickly, a thing of the past. They are? No one told me, I still use my IPod.

From "If I Had No Loot": "When I need somebody, there's nobody to call. When they need me, my phone rings off the wall." Huh? Why would a phone be on a wall?

From "Do Me!" by Bell Biv Devoe:
"The time was six o'clock on the Swatch watch..."
IIRC, the Swatch watch fad had faded even by 1990, when that was a Top Ten hit, so it's pretty needless to say that nobody born after then would know what the heck a Swatch is.

Michael, Your comment reminds me of a couple of lines from Hot Stuff by Donna Summer-- Dialed about a thousand numbers lately, Almost rang the phone off the wall--and later in the song, she hopes to find somebody home. Ah yes life was so much simpler in 1979.

Debarge: Time Will Reveal... More precious than silver
At pretty much the same price as it was in 1983, silver isn't all that precious anymore.

Van Halen: Jump Oh can't you see me standing here, I've got my back against the record machine Although some would argue it makes more sense today than it did 15-20 years ago, with vinyl having a much stronger presence now.

On this weeks 1980 show was the song Answering Machine by Rupert Holmes. I don't think that many young people would know what that was!

"Parker Lewis Can't Lose" (a popular Fox show that basically did "Ferris Bueller" better than "Ferris Bueller") would start airing that year, lasting 3 seasons. One of the memes from that show was Parker telling his friends to: "Gentlemen, synchronize Swatches!"
