The "when are you going Christmas?" comments aren't necessarily pro-Christmas. I would ask that to know when I should choose another station, especially when Casey's Christmas shows are offered and it will be harder to find a station playing the regular shows.

The reason they do it is that it is always ratings gold. Despite the mass majority of us despising it and even a general consensus of the population, it is a huge ratings hit and the advertisers love it. Look at the WODC Facebook page and when Mike comments about AT40, The comments he receives are often when are you going Christmas? I will never understand it. I have no desire to hear a Christmas song until the day after Thanksgiving. And well I never would want to hear all Christmas for a month I do understand the importance of having a station in the market that offers it for those who want it. It's just tough for us because the format of the station that offers it typically is the same format that we enjoy listening to the rest of the year and it disappears. As do the AT40 shows Right--once we're past Thanksgiving, it's not bad to throw on in the car, when you have the kids in the backseat and need something safe to listen to. Other than that, to simply put on one of those stations and hear "Step Into Christmas", John Lennon's "So This is Christmas", "All I Want for Christmas Is You", or worst of all, Madonna's "Santa Baby" 10 times a day each, is approaching torture...

I can't believe that some stations are flipping to Xmas when it is supposed to be in the 70s tomorrow way up here in upstate NY! One of these years, if we have an unusually early flip to all-Xmas and an unusually late 80-degree day (Oct. 22 is our latest 80-degree high), that would be really bizarre!

I personally prefer not to hear any Christmas music 'til Christmas eve, and then 'til noon, Christmas day. Sufficient time to go thru their Christmas library in those 18+ hours.

I like it from Thanksgiving til Christmas, but not as the only music I listen to.
But as much as I like it, by midday Christmas Day, I am done with it. I will listen to it Thanksgiving night, but by about 2pm on Christmas afternoon I don't want anything to do with it!

We need to start keeping track of the changes for the 2014 Christmas season. As noted in the 80s thread, KKLI has switched to all Christmas music.
Which stations do you people know who won't switch to all Christmas for both 70s and 80s? I record via dar.fm and I want to just record weekly without worrying about it.

WTRY (Albany, NY) is all Christmas now. Not sure if they are running the regular 70s AT40s, the holiday ones, or none at all.
I do want to hear the 1971 Christmas show tomorrow, and WODC at least will air it.

WWIS has never switched over for as long as I've been aware of the station's existence.

I've never seen Magic 102.7 in Miami flip to all Christmas except for 24 hours around Christmas Eve. They play AT 40: The 70's from 7 till 10AM Eastern time on Sundays. www.magicmiami.com/

'80s affiliate WSRS (Worcester, MA), which is local to me, apparently flipped to Christmas some time in the past week. Last week they ran the regular 1980 countdown in the normal Sunday 8:00 am - 12:00 noon timeslot, but I had them on my car radio just before 11:00 yesterday and they were finishing up what I think was the 1973 AT40 Christmas special. After it ended they seemed to be playing nonstop Christmas music.

WMXY (airs the 80s version Sunday mornings) will likely go all-Christmas the day before Thanksgiving.
It'd be nice if their sister station WBBG (now a 70s/80s station) would air the 80s version temporarily, but they probably wouldn't (and if they did, they'd only play the last three hours.)
ETA: Just turned them on and they've now switched over.
