Re: 4/28/1984 - the 2015 broadcast had those things cut out, too. Before I got the original show, I had the Premiere recording, and it sounded very, very strange. Here's a link to this thread from the 2015 airing. That way we can see what happened then. The discussion from 2015 actually starts here a couple of pages later.

KABQ still hanging on: n38a-e2.revma.ihrhls.com/zc6305It's like that Star Trek episode where the computers took control of the ship and they couldn't figure out how to turn them off.

I sure hope somehow KABQ hangs on as they have been my favorite station to listen to the show on (one that doesn't cut out after a few hours like the earlier Saturday channels do. Best station to listen to since WLIX left the airwaves.

It is well known that it is not forbidden to get smarter. And who knows: maybe those responsible at KABQ will also become a little wiser ( ).

KABQ playing 1984 pretty much commercial free! Only the usual top of the hour time sync filler. But when KABQ's new format comes by Summer 2021, there won't be AT40 The 80's on its secondary station.

Listening to the 4/28/84 show on WWIS and Casey's teaser for the first LDD was edited out, and then the entire LDD was cut also. Why?? According to Hervard on the 'chart Critiques' thread, it's coming up later in the 2nd hour. Unknown why it was moved. Yes, it was indeed cut out on the 2015 airing, and you may have noticed that several of the split logos are also cut, as well as the opening of the 3rd hour (which originally included a Dr. Pepper promo). My theory is that this was done when the show first aired in 2007 as the fifth overall show in the series and Premiere at the time was still playing around with how to present the shows, what to trim out, etc. And in subsequent airings of 4/28/84, they never restored those things that were initially chopped--similar to what was done with 10/17/81. What's interesting is that outside of 4/28/84 and 10/17/81, I can't think of any other shows that were edited in that way (though the Top 100 of 1984 also had split logos cut, etc.). Not sure why that was done with just a handful of shows.

Now if only I could figure out why the early 1970's shows keep getting heavily edited by someone who removes all the split-logo transitions, moves the AT40 Specials & Listener Questions, and cuts Casey's teasers.

I found it kind of funny that we heard album versions of Duran Duran's "The Reflex" and Yes's "Leave It" and NOT Scorpions' "Rock You Like A Hurricane" and Laid Back's "White Horse" in a concerted effort to avoid the "B" word.

In addition to this week´s 4/28/84-show, the eagerly awaited 6/23/84-show also contains a special version of Duran Duran´s "The Reflex".

I´ve noticed this on several re-releases of various "cult material". The first (few) episodes are cut, but suddenly (be it due to reactions or due to the technical effort) the further episodes are barely or only slightly cut.

The 1983 year end also has segments edited together, if i'm not mistaken.
On another note, hard to believe the show has been on the air now for 15 years!!!!
