blackbowl, apparently you don't like to reminisce over these songs. They weren't ALL tripe! I don't think he's commenting on the songs, but rather the fact that while cutting off AT40 is annoying, there are a lot of other places we can hear it, which isn't true of local sports in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. And apparently someone there cares about that since they broadcast it.

And that is why I listen to the show on WEZG when I'm off on Fridays. (Well, that and so I don't have to hear the annoying Flo ads).

Course if WWIS would start on time and finish up old Steve Bell on time they wouldn't be dropping the top 2-3 songs so much. Not like it's the first time but it does make it unreliable. Certainly community radio with the gaps and silence that pops up during the broadcasts. Not to mention the songs that disappear in the middle when they go to an 'emergency broadcast alert or the required shutdown of service airtime that pops up every few months' you never know how many songs disappear there.

Mkarns, that is exactly what I'm saying. Many people don't realize how lucky we are to hear these shows at all. Let alone the number of stations that do air them. I listen to them on TuneIn radio. So if one station preempts a rebroadcast, I'm not gonna freak out over it because I know I can catch another airing.

As much as I'm disappointed they had to stop the show, they are a community radio station. We have options to hear the show. This is their only option to broadcast this game. So it rightfully should take priority over AT40, especially over a 30+ year old episode! Agreed. I am on WWIS' side here. Make Dave mad or interrupt a community event many are tuning in for...

And besides, there are many other stations to listen to AT40 throughout the weekend, so why the fuss for one station?

I listened to the 1981 show today on Abigail FM outta Greenville for the first time and they did not disappoint. Not only did they play the extras but to fill in the hours, they didn't play hardly any commercials and they play extra 80s songs that were good. They're my new go to station for hearing the show for first time during weekend.

Well, as I mentioned last week, there won't be nearly as much station-searching next week. Still waiting on an exact 70s date, but next week's 80s show is a third-time airing (though first since 2009) - as suspected, it's 4/28/1984: www.charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/04-28-84.pdf

Since this would be the first airing with Larry Morgan extras, here are my predictions:
Laura Branigan - Self Control Pointer Sisters - Jump (For My Love) Queen - I Want To Break Free Slade - Run, Runaway

OK here's the pump & dump for 4/24/84 I'm going to start with 3 that I like better than their big hit 1. Scorpions "Rock You Like A Hurricane" (Much better than the Top 10 "Wind Of Change") 2. Yes "Leave It' (Rather hear it over "Owner Of A Lonely Heart" anytime) 3. Berlin "No More Words" (I'll exchange a couple plays of it instead of "Take My Breath Away" anytime) Now a couple of 1 hit wonders & a two hit artist 1. Talk Talk "It's My Life" (Forget that No Doubt remake) 2. Laid Back 'White Horse" (Good dance hit that deserved better) 3. Tony Carey "A Fine Fine Day" (Also see "The First Day Of Summer" they both deserved better) Finally the dump Julio Iglesias & Willie Nelson "To All The Girls I've Loved Before" (I'll take the Dwight Twilley song "Girls" over it anytime)

WMMX's audio is sped up on the 4-18-81 show, too.

They must be pitching up all music and even the AT40 files aren't immune. WKST Pittsburgh did this for a time with the current AT40 back in 2007ish and it sounded awful

I listened to the James Taylor song and following split logo into REO Speedwagon on WMMX - it sounded fine to me
