According to Hervard on the 'chart Critiques' thread, it's coming up later in the 2nd hour. Unknown why it was moved. Yes, it was indeed cut out on the 2015 airing, and you may have noticed that several of the split logos are also cut, as well as the opening of the 3rd hour (which originally included a Dr. Pepper promo). My theory is that this was done when the show first aired in 2007 as the fifth overall show in the series and Premiere at the time was still playing around with how to present the shows, what to trim out, etc. And in subsequent airings of 4/28/84, they never restored those things that were initially chopped--similar to what was done with 10/17/81. What's interesting is that outside of 4/28/84 and 10/17/81, I can't think of any other shows that were edited in that way (though the Top 100 of 1984 also had split logos cut, etc.). Not sure why that was done with just a handful of shows. In the American Top 40 Flashback days, a LDD was transferred at least once. On the January 19, 1980 show, a LDD (the one about the girl pursuing her modeling dream despite flack from her family) was transferred to Hour 2. Originally, it had been in the first hour, where it was placed back in subsequent airings of that show.

What about question letters and AT40 Extras for the AT40 Flashback shows, the same thing (However, when AT40 Flashback aired a few 1980 and 1981 shows in the 2 year series before withdrawing the 1980 and 1981 shows by late Spring 2002 the AT40 Archives segments were not heard)? 4/28/1984 was never part of the 2001-2002 AT40 Flashback series, I guess.

Yeah, and on at least one of those shows, the archives were not re-instated - that would be the November 1, 1980 show. I wonder if they'll be playing that show this year (since the last time it was aired was 2012) and replacing the Archives, like they did in the June 28, 1980 show last year?

4/28/1984 was never part of the 2001-2002 AT40 Flashback series, I guess. No it was not, nor was the other oddly edited show from October, 1981. The June 28, 1980 show that I mentioned above also had its first rebroadcast as part of this series - in 2007 (like the other two), when they were in the experimental stages. On that one, two Archives songs ("Running Bear" and "Why") were nixed. I guess those two songs sounded too outdated while the other one "El Paso" was more familiar to listeners (partially since it was used in a commercial for El Paso taco seasoning many years ago). As stated in my last post, both songs were edited back into the show.

As I am listening to AT40: The 80's 4/28/1984 this Sunday morning WXXM Rewind 92.1 FM Madison, Wisconsin: For the #39 song of "It's My Life" by Talk Talk, Casey mentioned 7 other acts with double word names besides Talk Talk: 4 made the top 40 reaches - Haley Mills and Haley Mills, Rene and Rene, Tin Tin, and Duran Duran; and 3 that didn't make the top 40 reaches - Five by Five, Spencer and Spencer, and Goody Goody. Casey didn't mention another double word name act - Brother to Brother, who made #46 (missing AT40 territory by 6 spots!) in 1974 with "In the Bottle". And in later years we get a few more top 40 making double word name acts - Mr. Mister, David and David, and Louie Louie.

There was a hair band/heavy metal group in 1990 that fell short of the Top 40- Danger Danger with "Bang, Bang" that hit #49 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the Spring of 1990.

Casey mentioned a somewhat of a heavy metal revival right before "Rock You Like A Hurricane" by The Scorpions with acts such as Quiet Riot and Van Halen. Bon Jovi's "Runaway" fell off the survey after just one week. (I'm still scratching my head over that one). Not to worry, Ratt and Twisted Sister would make their way on to the 40 later in the Summer of 1984.

The 1983 year end also has segments edited together, if i'm not mistaken. On another note, hard to believe the show has been on the air now for 15 years!!!! My only fear is that all this might come to an end as we close out the 2020's

I've heard the song at #25 A Fine Fine by Tony Carey a few times this weekend. Anyone know what the song is about? Kind of weird lyrics to try and follow. A mysterious figure referenced in the song.
