I gotta think the club mix of Another Lover would be an improvement over the single version. I heard a different version of a song on the '82 countdown, but can't remember which song...

Is this week's Everything She Wants a slightly different version than the regularly played version? I heard a couple of mentions of "Wham!" in the chorus that I'm not used to hearing. Or perhaps I just missed it the last 35 years.

Or perhaps I just missed it the last 35 years. I guess Watermark nor Premiere/Ken Martin's bag of edit tricks never played the "Everything She Wants" version with the extra verse with the line "My situation never changes" in it - That's in the music video of the song and on a 45 version, I think.

Freeway Of Love on this week's '85 show is a new version for me.

Freeway Of Love on this week's '85 show is a new version for me. That version was the Rock Mix version found on the 12 inch single of "Freeway Of Love". The guitarist on that version was Dez Dickerson who was in Prince's Revolution Band. He also played the guitar solo on "Little Red Corvette".

Did AT40: The 80's 9/8/1984 play a longer version of "Lucky Star" by Madonna?

On AT40: The 80's 10/17/1981 there was a long album version of "Sausolito Summernight" by Diesel that included an extra verse mentioning pizza and root beer and a long instrumental bridge up to the final chorus and ending part - This isn't the version that's on the made in 2000 "Barry Scott's Lost 45's of the 1970's and 1980's Volume 2" CD.

AT40 with Shadoe played a more "dance" version of En Vogue's "Free Your Mind" (rather than the album version) I had the opportunity to hear this when I heard the Jay Thomas show (10/31/92) some months back; I'm inclined to think that stations (Rhythm-crossover stations in particular) might also have been playing such a mix, thus why AT40 also used it. Solved this one. It's the Tommy's Spoiled Brat Mix, which is on the maxi-single:

On 11/3/90, they played this mix of "Pray", instead of the original:
It was available on the CD single and on a 12-inch promo (though as I'm not seeing a CD single indicated on the Billboard listings, maybe that was promo-only too?).
Worth noting that Shadoe cuts in early, during the last chorus (a little past 3 minutes in).

On this oast weekend's '87 show, a slightly different version of Breakfast Club's Right On Track was played. Did anyone else listening to the '87 show catch that? Yeah, they used that version in the 5/16, 5/23, and 5/30 shows. I prefer the other version. ETA: It was also played in the 4/18, 4/25, and 5/2 shows. (4/18 aired this year, 5/2 was guest-hosted by Charlie Van Dyke.) All in all, the alternate version was played in 6 of the 11 weeks it was on. The single version was played in the other 5 weeks, as well as the 1987 year-end...so it ends up coming out even. That would be the "Local Mix" version

CT40 related: When "The Way I Feel About You" by Karyn White made the R&R chart used for Casey's Top 40 in late 1991-early 1992, the remix version was always played and not the normal album/single version on Casey's Top 40. AT40 played the album/single version.

On the Top 100 of 1993, they played this version of Madonna's "Deeper and Deeper": Anyone ( Shadoe Fan?) know if this version was played any other time? At least in this instance, one reason to switch had to be for time - without specifically cutting the song down, just about any other version is longer than this is, and this is 4:04. On 2/27/93, however, it turns out that they did in fact play the full album version! By the way, this version appears to have originated as David's (as in DJ David Morales) Klub Mix - the full-length of which is available on the CD and cassette maxi-singles. As labeled, this is a radio edit form of that...and I think there was additional mixing done there, as well: I notice subtle sonic differences between the song as heard here and in the full-length Klub Mix.
