This may be more of an editing issue, but there was a weird version of "Somebody's Watching Me" played on 2/25/84. Some of the song itself was cut out, and it then jumped to an extended ending that was partly instrumental, with some of Rockwell's talk (including something about tea) that I've never heard on radio to my recollection. The verse edited out was the one that started with "I don't know, I think the neighbor's watching..." I don't recall a version where Rockwell mentions 'tea' either but I think it is this version of the song that they edited used for some reason: youtu.be/3alALbEXgsQ

5/14/94 had an alternate version (remix?) of "Baby, I Love Your Way".

Did Shadoe Stevens promise to play in the 1990's on AT40... * The 8 minute long version of "November Rain" by Guns 'n Roses? * The live version of "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong" by the Spin Doctors? * The accapella version of "So Much In Love" by All 4 One? ...but Shadoe never did at all?

I have always wanted to ask this but I kept forgetting until now, but what version of Footloose does AT40 play where the intro has kind of an echo-y sound to it?

No, they never played any of those mentioned.

I have always wanted to ask this but I kept forgetting until now, but what version of Footloose does AT40 play where the intro has kind of an echo-y sound to it? I think what's you're describing is the 45 (single) version. The album version starts off with the rhythm section playing several measures, then the guitar comes in to kick off the main body of the song. Just before the guitar comes in, its arrival is heralded by a sound that I'll call a cymbal roll (not sure if that's actually what it is, but it's the only thing I can come up with to describe it). The 45 version does not have the part at the beginning with the rhythm section playing. It starts off with the "cymbal roll". The "cymbal roll" is different on the 45, though; it lasts longer, is louder, and sounds kind of distorted. As far as I know, the two versions are the same except for the beginning of the song.

Is the version of Always Something There to Remind Me with the explosion noises in the intro the album version of the song? No, its not on the album version,, I like that version better, with the noises at the beginning..

Both 1/26 and 2/2/91 have different remixes of Janet Jackson's "Love Will Never Do (Without You)". (The former is also the Star Trek show.) A double-check of both shows reveals that the two are not the same, which makes this all the more interesting. The remix on 2/2 also seems to still use elements of the original instrumental, including the song's opening.

Oh, and I recently encountered this example: Amy Grant's That's What Love Is For from 1991 had a different sound on AT40 than did the music video. Turns out that the version played on AT40 - and the one probably more familiar today - was actually the album version; the (remixed) single version was used for the song's video. AT40 with Shadoe played a more "dance" version of En Vogue's "Free Your Mind" (rather than the album version) I had the opportunity to hear this when I heard the Jay Thomas show (10/31/92) some months back; I'm inclined to think that stations (Rhythm-crossover stations in particular) might also have been playing such a mix, thus why AT40 also used it.

In 1992, during the Shadoe Stevens AT40 Top 40 Radio Monitor chart source era, when "Tennessee" by Arrested Development was on the AT40 chart, this version was always played: www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEKH2PF3xJ8

Also, I remember on Casey's Top 40 in late 1991-early 1992 this remix version of "The Way I Feel About You" by Karyn White was always played: www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Lb4r2HHZew...Shadoe Stevens on AT40 never played this version and always played the original version.

Josh Joel's Top 40: Here's one for you. 7/8/89. For "On Our Own", instead of the music starting right away along with the line, "Want somethin' done? Gotta do it yourself", we instead get the song's bridge at the beginning, and the music doesn't really kick in until after that. Which version is which?

Lady (You Bring Me Up) has a version I've never heard before on the 7/25/1981 show.

That one starts off with Bobby rapping "too hot to handle, too cold to hold..." The version you were referring to is the album version I believe...
