How about "Bop Til You Drop" on the 9/8/84 show? Rick Springfield debuted and #40 on that show, but a different mix of the song than I have heard before (and a version I haven't heard on any of the other AT40 shows from that time). It seemed like a slower version that was more raw in its production. Not sure if that was the version from the Hard To Hold soundtrack, or a single version?

For the second time this week, I have heard "Love in an Elevator" by Aerosmith on a show. AT40 the other day and as an extra on the AT20 from this date in 2008 today. Best part of the song that IIRC starts the song was not played in either show...the lady says "Mr. Tyler, going down?'. It's not THAT suggestive is it?

Listening to the 11/3/79 AT40, and Casey split the difference between album and single versions of the Knack's two hits; he played the album version of "My Sharona" (longer guitar solo) and the single version of "Good Girls Don't" (cleaner lyrics). Each is the opposite version of those that are usually played today.

Listened to the 11/5/94 AT40 this week and they played a different version of Amy Grant's "The Lucky One", almost sounded acoustic.

I wouldn't really call it an "odd" version of the song, but the version of Rock With You on the 1980 show is the one without the hand claps in the chorus. I heard it on my cassette copy of the Off the Wall album, but when I got it on CD it was the one with the hand claps I usually hear today whenever that song is played. How about the title track from that album? Around April of 1980, when that song was peaking at #10, Casey played an alternate version, which, if memory serves, had a heavier drum beat and more reverb. Anyone know where this version might have come from?

Not sure of the date, but Fantasy by Aldo Nova featured a totally different guitar solo than the album version. I have searched for info on this, and found nothing suggesting the single was a different mix. I have it off the show on cassette, but have never heard this version outside of this airing.

The version of The Reflex on the 4/28/1984 show sounds a lot different than what I usually hear on the radio and other 1984 shows with it in the countdown. Is it possibly the album version?

They did that mashup of 99 Luftballons/Red Balloons when Nena was on the countdown.

Well Sunday the 5-8-82 countdown had Aldo Nova's Fantasy at #29, and it was definately a shorter and different guitar solo than the LP. Not sure why this was (the alternate solo, the shortening is understood, as they cut some music in between verses down too). I'll have to grab the 45 off of ebay.

It was odd that AT40 never played the medley version of Soft Cell's "Tainted Love" with "Where Did Our Love Go" as the second song. It was just played on the AT20 show from 6/13/09 running about 5 minutes. BTW, both songs were originally recorded in the 60s even though only teh second one had any chart success.

That version of "Love in an Elevator" with the female voice was heard on the original run's finale on 1/28/1995. And I don't think it's suggestive, otherwise it wouldn't have been played in the first place.

This week's 1985 had a different version of Freeway of Love; you could hear guitar riffs throughout the song.
