Can we finally get a 1971 show in here? Like, Sept. 4, 1971, for a freakin' change? Good God almighty! Brian Briguy, I love you a lot man, but you need to stop your b*tchin' & complainin'! It's gets on a lot of people's nerves! That was more than a week ago. Wait until March. :)

I forgot to mention this. On last weekend's 1978 show, Casey mentioned WZZD in Philadelphia. That was the station that replaced long time Philly top 40 WIBG aka Wibbage. WZZD did not last long. BTW, it seemed like Philadelphia always got the short end of the stick when it came to American Top 40. Philly stations were rarely mentioned on the show. Hey Ponderousman, at least your Phillies and Eagles are doing well. Go COWBOYS!!! :P

shuckatoom, did the Cowboys move to Los Angeles? You can't root for the Cowboys if you live in LA. Even if you don't have an NFL team!! Unless you used to live in Dallas that is!

Predictions for next week's show...I will take the easy way out and go with the two years that have the longest droughts: -First guess: 9/10/77 -Second guess: 9/6/75 Doubt it will be that 1975 show as apparently XM has decided to air it this weekend. Well--if it is '75, let's hope it will at least be 9/13/75. We will all hear that collective groan from everyone on these here boards if SXM ended up switching to a show that Premiere had already planned to air! I think '77 would be the logical choice for next week...

Regarding the 78 Show, Casey taught me something. He said that a bagel is a round doughnut shaped bread roll. Thanks Casey for the info....LOL!!! Then, he's going to tell me that a burger is a meat patty surrounded by two buns. Oh yeah, maybe not, Casey doesn't like meat...LOL. Seriously, were bagels new in the 70s?

I don't think they would have been instantly familiar to the majority of Casey's listeners at the time. I'm sure there are other foods that are now "mainstream" in North America that he also would have felt he had to explain. Sushi, for example.

I thought the same thing when I first heard that, but if I remember correctly, outside of maybe New York and Boston, bagels really weren't very common until maybe the early 90's. At least there weren't the national chains like Bruegger's everywhere like there are now. Funny to think now though, that something like bagels would need an explanation.

That was funny when Casey explained what a bagel is!!! That story about how Barry Manilow had the bagels and cream cheese delivered to the fans was very touching. I think he made such great music, but my two stations that feature 70's and 80's music in Hampton Roads Virginia play ZERO Barry Manilow. I have to use You Tube or my greatest hits CD to hear him!!!! I would have loved to hear the long version of Copacabana, but with all the edits already in place, the four hour show that would start in October of that year was long overdue!!! Anyone else agree?

From last week's show, when Casey was discussing the "Everybody Knows" story, he said it would be like naming "both your boys George". Was that an accidental George Foreman reference or not (does anyone know).

Barry Manilow is of Jewish extraction-His real name is Barry Alan Pincus-I thought that was a great human interest story.
