It was worse at WUPE (Whoopee FM) in western Mass. During "Kiss You All Over," there was a glitch in the automation, and sister station WBEC (current pop) bled in over it! I escaped to WORC-FM, closer to Beantown, and only missed a couple of songs. Semi-related: Back in 1975, there was a trade-paper ad for Watermark in which Casey (or someone lookin' a lot like him) is seen chowin' down on what the ad suggests is a hamburger... given his personal tastes, I doubt there really was beef in that roll... does anyone here know of a place online that has a crop of Casey from that ad? Perhaps Pete would have copy or on Google Books. caseyfan4ever has provided the link in the previous post. Thanks to Pete's book, I can tell you it is in the 5/3/75 edition of Billboard. The headline reads "AMERICAN TOP 40 IS MOVING A LOT OF BURGERS IN WATERLOO" on page 149 of his book.

The March 18, 1972 issue of Billboard has a full page ad proclaiming "Casey Kasem is selling shoes in Grand Forks, North Dakota" and listing other things advertised during AT40's commercial breaks, among them being McDonald's in Presque Isle, Maine (note: this was a year before Casey became a vegetarian.) Casey became more adamant about not promoting meat or animal related products in later years; reportedly (according to a 2004 NY Times article) he refused an offer to narrate a cereal commercial because he did not want to promote greater milk consumption.

See, the thing that bothers me is when Vegans get mad about milk. That HAS to be extracted or they'll explode. Why not drink it?

I listened to last weekend's show on WVTK & I enjoyed Casey's interviews with the people involved with the first LDD. Yes, I listened to the show during that girl thingy Hurricane Irene. Take that Irene, you pregnant dog!

Thanks for all your help on the Casey-burger picture; sadly, since Proboards requires that avatars be from an Internet URL rather than a local file on my machine, there'll be no way for me to use it in that respect.

Again, the ad I found was from 1975, well after his "pledge to veg."

Prediction for next weekend's show: September 10, 1977 (Backup prediction: September 9, 1972) 9/10/77 has a great and very romantic song at #40 - I BELIEVE YOU written by the ADDRISI BROS and sung by DOROTHY MOORE. The CARPENTERS version is, to me, what music must sound like in heaven. What a beautiful song.

The Premiere cue sheet arrived at WHNN, and here's your extras: 1. “TRAPPED BY A THING CALLED LOVE” – Denise LaSalle 2. “SUPERSTAR” – The Carpenters 3. “REASON TO BELIEVE” – Rod Stewart I was kind-of expecting Rod to get in; sadly I won't get to hear him as the stations I'm able to catch the show on, don't do the 3rd extra.

Interesting that Premiere left in an original commercial, probably for the "Double Dozen" double record set. Also, evidently they left intact the entire five minutes of "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey".

I forgot to mention this. On last weekend's 1978 show, Casey mentioned WZZD in Philadelphia. That was the station that replaced long time Philly top 40 WIBG aka Wibbage. WZZD did not last long. BTW, it seemed like Philadelphia always got the short end of the stick when it came to American Top 40. Philly stations were rarely mentioned on the show.

Can we finally get a 1971 show in here? Like, Sept. 4, 1971, for a freakin' change? Good God almighty! Brian Briguy, I love you a lot man, but you need to stop your b*tchin' & complainin'! It's gets on a lot of people's nerves!
