Check out the final segment of hour #2; it devotes 7 and a half minutes to playing the long version of "Are You Ready" by Pacific Gas & Electric. Unusual choice! Also, at 5:36 it looks like the full length version of "Maybe" was played. (I'm saying "was" because it could be cut in this weekend's presentation) . Regarding the song 'Maybe,' AT40 played the 3:40 promo which features a shorter but completely redone intro. I've never heard the actual 5-minute single version on radio. What is interesting is that youtube has the Roulette single version as well as another recording done in 1964 on the Swan label that is truer to the Chantels original. This one predates Sheila Ferguson (RIP) joining the group. May wanna check it out.

At #6 this week, for "The Love You Save", was this the first time on the show Casey references "Michael" by name?
He also says Michael was 10 years old at the time. I believe he was 11 when this show aired and would turn 12 in August 1970.

That's correct-I was born on 8/8/58 & Michael was born three weeks after that.

Both of you are correct...Michael was born in August 1958. But Casey was also right as per known info at the time. Motown marketed the age of Jackson 5 members two years younger than their actual in 1969-70, with Michael in particular as a 10-yr old prodigy. So even if Casey knew his real age, he wasn't gonna reveal it in 1970.
This is not the only time this has happened. Throughout the 80's, Prince was marketed as being born in 1960. And many bios done during her first two albums stated Jennifer Lopez was born in 1970.

If Madonna was born in 1960, she would have been born on the same day that I was. She is exactly 2 years older than me having been born in 1958, on August 16th.
kburger, I am not on the same page as you re: OEs. I want as many original extras as OEs so that they don't have to edit the other songs in the show. Of course, I don't guess OEs so I have a different agenda than you anyway.

In 1998 Madonna turned 40, because there was a Madonna´s Top 40 singles in BBC Radio 1 that summer week in 1998.
So she was born in 1958.

Wasn't Madonna claimed to be born in 1960 as well? I think you're right. In the Jun 2, 1984 show that was broadcast a couple of months ago, Casey said Madonna was 23 years old. So, at that time she claimed to be born in 1960.

They were posted a page ago by mr.jukebox. "I'm Walkin'" (Fats Domino) "Can't Buy Me Love" (The Beatles) and "Gentle On My Mind" (Glen Campbell). All original show extras. Thank you! Must of missed someway, somehow. And I'm gonna go on a rant! Just leave the original extras in the show! A year ago or two you could hear a '70 or '71 and they would still be in there & the optional extras were actual songs below the top 40. I remember evening hearing "Cinnamon Girl" played which was coo-el by me even though it wasn't a top 40 hit! I love Fats Domino to death but the song wasn't released in 1970! It's taking all the fun & suspense out of guessing the optional extras! Either leave them in the regular show or don't play them at all GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR !!! At least as of 2005, Premiere has still had the same clocks for all their weekly shows: 50 minutes of content, 5 minutes of national commercials, and 5 minutes allowed for local spots. That's not changed since AT40 The 70s first debuted. So even if the original extras are left in the show, that means that other songs are going to be shortened, and you know someone will b**** about that. Personally, I'd rather hear Casey announcing original extras in the optional spots than hearing Larry Morgan.

Where can the Whitburn books be bought? Probably cost a pretty penny too! And what timeframe do they run? Is it like my Top 40 book that is updated with more info? Or are they by decade? The Whitburn books are pretty expensive, around $80 each. Occasionally Record Research has sale on books, usually around Thanksgiving or so. If you sign up for their email they will send you info on new books & info on sale priced items.

Yes. In Madonna's early AT40 chart life Casey made her two years younger. I think her correct age was given sometime in either 1986 or 1987.

To provide the answer to the hint provided, and as dukedeb noted, this program spotlighted radio station self-ID mentions. As part of the August 17, 1974 program, one of those was from an unidentified female announcer from WFOX in Gainesville, Georgia. The world of radio in 1974, and in particular deejays and air personalities, was unquestionably male dominated. To have a female provide an ID was certainly unique. Perhaps someone will recognize the voice and identify the announcer.

The reason I felt sure it would be 8/10/74 originally is that I thought it would be and now is strange to go from a show dated the 1st to a show dated the 17th. Part of it is that Premiere wanted to play shows from 1976 and then 1970 the past 2 weeks but was limited in their choices. The 8/7/76 show was guest hosted and the 8/8/70 show was played last year. So dates in between the 1st and 17th were somewhat limited. This is the first show played from August 1974 BTW.
