At #20 in the show from 5/24/75 Casey noted that "Hey Won't You Play Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song" with 50 letters in the title took over as the #1 song with the longest title, but then in nearly identical listener questions in the shows from 11/8/80 and 4/21/84 Casey said that "Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini" at 41 letters was the #1 song with the longest title. Then in the show from 2/20/88 Casey said that "Hey Won't You Play . . ." was the #1 song with the longest title. Again, it makes me wonder who provided the information that Casey read as 'fact' on the air each week.

Personally, I don't count "Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song" in this category as the first four words are parenthetical. But that's me. But I would also disagree with his'84 and '88 answers, as I would count the Stars On 45 medley as the longest, since all of the song titles are listed on the 45, non-parenthetically.

Anyone else find "Black Friday" an odd extra choice? A #37 peaker that I don't consider to be an 'iconic' Steely Dan song. I would've gone with "The Hustle" instead.

Casey made an error at the beginning when introing "Misty" saying that Ray Stevens had 2 #1's. "The Streak" was correct, but "Everything Is Beautiful" was his other #1. "Ahab The Arab" peaked at #5. Another error, on the intro to #4: While "Only Yesterday" was indeed The Carpenters' 12th top 10 single, it was not 12 'consecutive' top 10s. 12 out of 14, as "It's Going To Take Some Time" and "I Won't Last a Day Without You" peaked at #12 and #11, respectively.

Any idea who would play the bonus offering of 7-6-74 countdown? That is one I don't believe I have heard before.

I wonder if that means they're going to eliminate Magic Sunday Morning (although that's regular music; just a slightly different format than their usual fare). It says "Off for A to Z", which I guess is an extended holiday weekend program of songs or artists played in alphabetical order. Presumably "Saturday at the 70s" and "Sunday at the 80s", including both AT40s, should be back next week. There goes one (the only?) option for anyone who wanted an encore of last week's 1972 show, though. And I thought WMGN Magic 98 Madison temporary prempts AT40 The 70's/AT40 The 80's at some Christmas period for its 98 HOURS OF CHRISTMAS MUSIC thing every December 21-25 Christmas period!

Which show in 1984 or 1988 mentions the #1 song of "Hey Won't You Play..." or "Itsy Bitsy..." as long #1 titles without "()" and with "()"?

No surprise here. This show last aired as an 'A' or 'B' show the weekend of May 28-29, 2011 -- optional extras back then were: Hour 1: "Follow You, Follow Me" - Genesis (#41) Hour 2: "Grease" - Frankie Valli (#69; highest debut) Hour 3: "More Than A Woman" - The Bee Gees*

Their ON-AIR page suddenly doesn't mention Casey at all, tho', which has me worried. And the "Saturday at the '70s" blurb says "7am - 7pm" which is new hours.

I just sent them an e-mail; there probably won't be an answer right away since it's a holiday weekend, but I'll let you know as soon as I get a response. ETA: Just got an answer from their PD; they have indeed dropped the show.

A response I got from WMGN Magic 98 via Facebook: "American Top 40, both the 70s and 80s will not run this weekend as we continue A to Z. Thanks for listening." And as of the May 30-31, 2020 weekend Magic 98 will no longer air AT40: The 70's on Saturdays? Unless they are cutting back on 1970's songs.

ETA: Just got an answer from their PD; they have indeed dropped the show. Well that's sad. Been listening to them since 2007. Their all-day "Saturday at the '70s" has always been terrific, and they were a reliable choice to play the early-'70s "B" show when the "A" was a 4-hour '78 or '79. Of course, 13 years is a long time, and WMGN is not a Classic Hits station; they're a Hot AC during the week.
