Curious as to why in the 70's series Premiere has been playing the 3rd extra after the #6 or #5 song lately (i.e. before the penultimate segment) and omitting the split logo before the last segment. Seems kind of strange, especially on some of these shows that should've needed no edits since they were last played in the last 10 years (i.e. the Larry Morgan era).
I noticed the 5/5/73 show, which had the typical 3rd hour extra before the last segment (in that show's case, between #4 and #3) for the 2011 airing, was changed to have the extra between #5 and #6, with the split logo before the last segment removed. Not sure why there was any need to change it from before? The 2011 airing was also a solid minute longer in total run time than the 2020 version. It sounds like this was done on the 5/20/72 show as well, and also was done last year for the 8/9/75 show.

Predicted extras:
From 1975, I'll go with:
* "The Hustle" – Van McCoy and the Soul City Symphony. * "Swearin' to God" – Frankie Valli. * "Dynomite" – Bazuka.
For the "Top 40 Acts ... So Far" show – three who weren't included last time and also missed the cut:
* "The Most Beautiful Girl" – Charlie Rich. (The first of nine songs to top both the Hot 100 and Hot Country Singles charts during the 1970s.) * "Give Me Love Give Me Peace On Earth" – George Harrison. (Became the only ex-Beatle to replace his former bandmate at No. 1.) * "Black Magic Woman" – Santana. (Maybe in tribute to Jorge Santana, Carlos' brother.)
Honorable mention to John Lennon – if he gets played instead, I'd go with his first hit of the 1970s, "Instant Karma (We All Shine On)."

Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess - 5/27/78 2nd Guess - 5/28/77
Really only a need to guess one show for next week. It has to be 5/27/78, doesn't it? We haven't had a 1978 'A' show since February, and this show hasn't aired at all since 2011.

No 70s offerings this coming saturday on WMGN Magic 98 (Or the 80s show on sunday) they are having non stop music for the holiday weekend I wonder if that means they're going to eliminate Magic Sunday Morning (although that's regular music; just a slightly different format than their usual fare).

It says "Off for A to Z", which I guess is an extended holiday weekend program of songs or artists played in alphabetical order. Presumably "Saturday at the 70s" and "Sunday at the 80s", including both AT40s, should be back next week. There goes one (the only?) option for anyone who wanted an encore of last week's 1972 show, though.

I will say I like to listen to these A to Z promotions. It's interesting to hear what they play and what they don't play.

Casey made an error at the beginning when introing "Misty" saying that Ray Stevens had 2 #1's. "The Streak" was correct, but "Everything Is Beautiful" was his other #1. "Ahab The Arab" peaked at #5.

Can't believe I didn't catch that--must not have been paying attention (was cooking dinner at the time). "Everything Is Beautiful" is hands-down the most forgotten #1 song of 1970. Also noted for being played on the very first AT40, at #29, it's final week in the 40 (and Hot 100).

And in the show the following week [May 31, 1975] Casey offered a "correction" acknowledging that Ahab was not Ray's other #1. But then Casey said the other #1 hit was "Please [sic] Mr. Businessman" which was also completely incorrect because it peaked at #28 and the title has no "Please" in it. Makes you wonder who wrote his material for him.
