I think May 8, 1971 was the first to be aired with the chart and airdate weeks lining up. The 5/1/71 chart was aired a week early as was done before (the last weekend in April), and for the first weekend in May AT40 did its first special show. Thanks for the clarification! I recalled it as April, but it was actually early in May. Well you could say--and not be wrong--that the last show to air a week before the chart date was in April (the weekend of April 24, 1971, which used the chart date of 5/1/71).

Christmas music seems especially appropriate here in my neck of the woods, as we got about four inches of snow today. It's April, for crying out loud! Enough is enough! (Oh well, on the plus side, the Saturday forecast calls for sun and high temps in the low 50s, so fortunately, it's all going to be history by tomorrow afternoon!)

This morning was a beautiful winter wonderland, but this is freaking the middle of April for crying out loud!!!! Note to radio programmers-Start playing summer songs from the mid 60's to the 90's if you will. Yeah, some have their Christmas lights, but there is another past-time that's been going on in smaller towns in the state from which I live-Cruising. I guess if you were looking for a drive-in burger joint, Sonic might be the only option. All that's missing is the Drive-in theatre.

We still got the dirty white stuff here from Sunday...been a chillier week for sure. But should get up near 60 tomorrow. I know it's spring, and I want it just as much as anyone. But I will gladly take this over what the Southeast got dealt on Easter Sunday.

OK, I have a confession to make. For this weekends 1971 countdown an error got through. At position 22 is Alice Cooper and Eighteen. When I was mixing that segment, I grabbed the wrong piece of Casey audio which was the outro for the Carpenters For All We Know. Unfortunately, QC didn't catch the mistake either and it went out to the stations like that early this week. However, I alerted Toby Petty to the problem, fixed the segment, and they uploaded a revised copy of that segment. How many stations will get the revision vs. the number that will just air what they got earlier this week? Can't answer that, but you could be on the lookout for which stations air the corrected v. the incorrect version.

WTOJ is still in Xmas mode, so I guess that means my dream of a Superized 1978 is out the window. Sorry, yes. What the boss says goes. One weekend was more than enough for my taste. We'll be back to regular music once we're out of April (knock wood).

If I hadn't read this it would have been pretty funny to hear Alice Cooper followed by Casey saying "That was the Carpenters."

Ken,I was listening to 7/17/71 show last night on WSQL in Brevard,NC-I caught the error you mentioned. As was I. Was only half-listening at that moment, and did a classic 'double take': "Whaaaa?" Figures it was a production error. You are forgiven!

This list along with saltrek's lists will be so helpful.
