Of all the songs that peaked at #40 on American Top 40 Hit The Road Jack is up there with Your Move and Burnin' For You as the one that most deserved to go higher. In fact three of the four songs that didn't get out of the 30's on this chart should have done better. We Can't Hide It Anymore on the other hand....... Personally, I like Larry Santos' melodramatic 'cheatin' song'. But I'm a sucker for those. Only place I ever heard it in '76 was on 'AT40, it got zero local airplay.

Goof of the Week: Casey said "Misty Blue" was produced by "KC" of the Sunshine Band. It was not. Thought that sounded wrong, as Ms. Moore's label (Malaco) was out of Jackson MS, not Miami. But was too lazy to investigate. Thanks!

Who else thinks that Larry Santos sounded just like Richie Havens?

It's been awhile, and I hope you're all staying safe in this time of national crisis. It's a d**n scary time, I tell you. Predicted extras for April 14, 1979: * " She Believes In Me" – Kenny Rogers, the country-crossover superstar who passed away March 20. * "Good Times Roll" – The Cars. Never made it past No. 41, but this has become a classic hits/oldies staple. * "It Must Be Love" – Alton McLain & Destiny. * "When You're In Love With a Beautiful Woman" – Dr. Hook. Brian I would think it to be a near certainty that we'll hear a Kenny Rogers song as an extra.

I'm not sure there's a female artist that would have been produced by Harry. I thought maybe Gwen McCrae, since Harry produced husband George's "Rock Your Baby", but Steve Alaimo and two others produced "Rockin' Chair" (checked my 45 collection). Also checked Anita Ward, but "Ring My Bell" was produced by Frederick Knight. Maybe Teri DeSario?

KC co-produced the Betty Wright song "Where Is The Love", which was a Top 20 hit on the soul chart in 1975.

And I personally find "Hit the Road" to be abominable In fact I always joke that all 3 hits that the Wolfman makes appearances on are varying degrees of terrible.

On the 4-4-81 show, Casey said that there were 3 Canadian acts in the Top 40 (Loverboy, Gino Vannelli, and April Wine). That had not happened since 1979. Correct me if I'm wrong, but would have that occurred on April 21, 1979 with April Wine, Iron Horse and Anne Murray ?

And I guess the next time 1973 becomes an A show the Manu Dibango "Soul Makossa" might be an OPTONAL EXTRA to pay tribute.

"She Believes In Me" was Kenny's next hit after this show -- wonder why they didn't go with that one? "You Decorated My Life" didn't reach the top 40 until October 1979.

"You Decorated My Life" didn't reach the top 40 until October 1979. It could be simply because YDML is about 40 seconds shorter than SBIM. Including SBIM as an extra may have meant editing out a verse from a song in the countdown. Including YDML as the extra could be for other reasons but song length may be a simple reason.

Could the song title itself have something, even if not 100%, have anything to do with it? He's decorated the charts for many years, and I have enjoyed his "decorations".
