On the 4-4-81 show, Casey said that there were 3 Canadian acts in the Top 40 (Loverboy, Gino Vannelli, and April Wine). That had not happened since 1979. Correct me if I'm wrong, but would have that occurred on April 21, 1979 with April Wine, Iron Horse and Anne Murray ? Yes, on April 21 and 28 1979 those three acts were on AT40. Incidentally, Ironhorse was the Canadian band (there is an American bluegrass band called Iron Horse). |

Ironhorse was led by Randy Bachman, who had previously been in Bachman-Turner Overdrive (duh!) and The Guess Who before that. Probably the only Canadian who had US Top 40 appearances with three different bands. |

Bob Montgomery wrote and produced "Misty Blue". I'm not sure there's a female artist that would have been produced by Harry. I thought maybe Gwen McCrae, since Harry produced husband George's "Rock Your Baby", but Steve Alaimo and two others produced "Rockin' Chair" (checked my 45 collection). Also checked Anita Ward, but "Ring My Bell" was produced by Frederick Knight. Maybe Teri DeSario? Yes, KC produced the entire Moonlight Madness album, including "Yes, I'm Ready." Interestingly, all of the recording was done in L.A., not in Miami. |

Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess - 4/15/78
2nd Guess - 4/17/71
There's a good possibility that 1971 and '78 are the shows for the last two weeks in April. If it's 1978, we should be set up for a glut of early 70's shows throughout the month of May.

Every week it is posted that there will be a 70s B show, I search in vain to try to find it on one of the many 70s affiliates. Are there any stations (besides PAC I guess) who regularly air the 70-B?
If there are, is there a post somewhere that I'm missing that lists these stations? (like the "Listing of AT40: The 80s shows" that JMack keeps current with 80-B stations)
Is there a station any of you know of that is airing this week's 70's B show?

Just a quick explanation in case you haven't heard why there are 'A' and 'B' shows sometimes. A number of stations no longer like to air the early 70's shows (70, 71, 72) so they get paired with a later 70's 'B' show. Also - a few stations don't like to air the 4-hour shows (late 78 and 79) and/or don't want to only play 3 hours of a 4 hour show. So these get paired with a 'B' - earlier 70's show. It is generally easy to find a 'B' show when it is a later 70's show. It can be hard to find an early 70's 'B' show. |

Usually when there are 'A' and 'B' shows people here mention stations where you can find the 'B' show. In some cases a station may play it Saturday and repeat it Sunday, or sometime the following week.

Each weekend they play three Casey AT40's: a replay of last week's 70s countdown on Saturday morning, this week's on Saturday night, and the 80s show (usually the A) on Sunday afternoon. |

That's the great thing about WMGN...if anyone misses their 70s show, they repeat it the following Saturday. It's nice that they have the previous show and the current show on the same day (though spread a bit apart).

Yes, I have Magic 98 (WMGN) in a tab that I refresh each week to see what they will be playing. Even though they don't play the extras, they have good FM quality audio and each week they do a good job of "sayin' what they'll be playin'." I wish more stations did that! They do say they are playing the '73 B show this week. I normally work Saturday nights (not currently though) so I sometimes get to catch the repeat the following week, but usually I am listening to the current week's show during that Saturday morning slot! I see what you're saying though. It's usually the stations that don't like to play an AT30 or who are either early or late 70's programmed. I just wish (hint hint) there was some kind of list of those kind of stations.... (greedy I am, hmmm!) |

KLFM is going with March 14, 1973 on Friday at 10 pm eastern. ...and not only does KLFM play the Premiere extras, due to their light (local) commercial load, they also play three additional extras each week...sometimes of songs already in the countdown! So not only 'extra' extras, but you get to hear local ads for businesses in and around Bendigo, Victoria, Australia, and best of all you don't have to hear Purple Mattress ads!  |
