That sweating the bed commercial really disgusts me. Be thankful they haven't merged that commercial with the EPI (a.k.a. My #2) commercial. That wouldn't be pretty.

Optional extras from this show's previous airing (October 24-25, 2015): Hour #1: "Love Machine (Part 1)" - The Miracles (#90; debuted) Hour #2: "That's The Way (I Like It)" - KC & The Sunshine Band (#50; highest debut) Hour #3: "Heat Wave" - Linda Ronstadt (was at #12 that week but Casey played the B-side "Love Is A Rose") No apparent reason to make any changes, but you never know... A possibility is the Staple Singers "Let's Do It Again" (#68; debuted), which is one week from the countdown. Fresh from "jdelachjr2002" on the Pulse Music Board: Well, jmack, they agreed. Replace the third extra with "Let's Do It Again". dL

^ It was the only week for "Let's Do It Again" (as well as "That's The Way (I Like It)" ) to be used as an optional extra.

Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess - 11/3/79 2nd Guess - 11/2/74
Feels like it should be one of these shows. 11/3/79 holds a special place in AT40 - the 70's, as it was the first 1979 show Premiere aired almost four years into the series. But it hasn't been played since, and hasn't been offered with all four hours. Both of these shows last aired as 'A' shows in 2010, and 11/2/74 was played as a 'B' in 2012.

There are two 70s programs scheduled for the weekend of November 2 & 3. What's interesting about the program choices, there's nearly a two-week gap between calendar dates. The chart dates of the shows offered that weekend are similar to offering November 7, 1970 and November 19, 1977, a 12-day gap.

November 11, 1978 & October 30, 1971 would be interesting program choices.

November 11, 1978 & October 30, 1971 would be interesting program choices. That's what I was thinking; I've been puzzling over this and can't come up with anything that doesn't either go back into October or use a year that was just done in the last few weeks. I thought of November 3, 1979, as we haven't had a 1979 A since June and we've never had the first hour of that show as an option, but under the twelve day rule the B would have to be either November 15, 1975, and we get 1975 by itself this week, or October 22, 1977, and we just had the adjacent 10/15/77, so no. (There are a couple of 1979 shows in late Nov/early Dec that have never been touched at all). November 4, 1972 and November 16, 1974 would fit but again we just had a 1972 A and 1974 B in separate weeks in the last month (and we're about due for a 1974 standalone.) And I think we're supposed to get the unplayed November 13, 1976 soon so I ruled that year out. (10/30 or 11/6/76 could have been a B to a 1972 or 1978 A)

November 11, 1978 & October 30, 1971 would be interesting program choices. Could also be 10/30/71 with 11/10/79 as the 'B' show? Pete used the word "similar" but not "the same as". Though if 11/13/76 is indeed the show for the weekend of November 9th, 11/11/78 would fit for the weekend prior. Yeah, you figure 1976 is out of play for the week of November 2nd, and as mkarns pointed out, so should 1975 be out as well. If it is exactly a 12-date gap, here are the possibilities: A - 11/3/79, B - 11/15/75 (though not likely that a 1975 'B' comes a week after a 1975 stand-alone) A - 11/10/79, B - 10/29/77 A - 11/11/78, B - 10/30/71 A - 11/4/78, B - 11/16/74 or 10/23/71 (hard to believe they'd go back that far into October for the weekend of Nov. 2nd however) A - 11/4/72, B - 11/16/74 A - 11/11/72, B - 10/30/76 (would be practically a no-go if the following week has 11/13/76 down as the 'A' show) 1971 would be out as an 'A', since there is no show that qualifies as a 'B' -- the only 11/11 show is 1978 and it hasn't aired yet. 1970 should be out since it just aired a couple weeks ago, and all years that would would fit it as a 'B' with a 12-date gap are stand-alone years.

I'm hoping that the show the first week of November is November 11. That way, there would be more of a chance of hearing one of the two un-aired 1979 shows and, with the yet-unplayed 1976 show confirmed as on deck, that would take care of three "new" shows. Maybe we'll get a hint in weeks to come. Or maybe not - who knows?

As for the great 1979 drought...well it has to end sometime. Rare that Premiere waits five months between shows for a certain year, but it appears that's where things might be headed. 11/24/79 is looking more and more like the next '79 show we'll hear--probably on Thanksgiving weekend.

If so, then there's the chance that the whole lot of 70s show will be exhausted by the end of 2020. Well, except for the four-hour 1978 and 1979 shows that have not yet had their first hour played.
