Hoggy, 1pm EDT Sunday should also be a great 1974 bet. Any other 1974 candidates left for today or tomorrow? Thanks WKIX, Sunday 9:00 AM to Noon. They don't play extras. More options for Sunday could be: KBGO, 8:00 AM; and WIHG, 1:00 PM, but i'm not sure. Unfortunately they made a mistake, they skipped Hour One, segment 3, and instead repeated Hour One, segment 1. Songs from 31 to 28 are missed.

I guess I have to check for 1974... other stations WPAC has it on their "player" which is available all weekend, but of course, as usual, they pick up the recording 9:30 before the show starts and because they post three hours, the recording ends up 10 minutes early so you don't hear numbers 2 and 1. Sigh.... Player here: ice7.securenetsystems.net/media/WPAC/ondemand/Casey-Kasem.m4a

I''m guessing you can hear that segment on the WPAC on demand link. Unfortunately they started the show late, so the third optional extra and the final segment (#2 and #1) are missing.

As expected Hoggy just starting 1974! Not expected, Boss Hogg (WHNR) started airing 1974 at noon.

Was anyone else surprised by the sudden death of Bob Kingsley? He announced his bladder cancer and died one week later on 10/17. The most recent two shows were hosted by Martina McBride.

Optional extras from this show's previous airing (October 24-25, 2015): Hour #1: "Love Machine (Part 1)" - The Miracles (#90; debuted) Hour #2: "That's The Way (I Like It)" - KC & The Sunshine Band (#50; highest debut) Hour #3: "Heat Wave" - Linda Ronstadt (was at #12 that week but Casey played the B-side "Love Is A Rose") No apparent reason to make any changes, but you never know... A possibility is the Staple Singers "Let's Do It Again" (#68; debuted), which is one week from the countdown.

Since Ken provided the stereo conversion for 1970, I would assume that show. Good point ... and they pretty much always play the 'A' show. Pretty much always gonna go with the A show. There have been B shows I converted which I shunned if favor of the A

I found it a bit odd that Casey featured the #3 song from 7-13-68 during an October show ("Jumping Jack Flash"). Normally he features what was going on this week during past years! I guess it was his show, and he could do what he chose.

"Love Machine," because it was such a slow climber, was still in the top 40 as late as 4/17/76--almost the opposite time of the year and Easter weekend that year. Another instance of Opposite-Time-of-Year Syndrome in the optional extras--with LeBlanc & Carr's "Falling," an October debut that was such a slow mover that it didn't peak until the following April 1. Lyraclly, the song may have semed like fall, but musically it reminded me of winter morphing into spring. "How Deep Is Your Love" and "I Go Crazy," from the same time, sounded like autumn songs to me when I first heard them in 197, but both lingered in the top 40 until the opposite time of year.

There's an ad in this issue about Tim Moore's "Second Avenue," a fine song that made its AT40 debut this week in a cover by Art Garfunkel, but could not push past #34. That was one of my favorite songs in late 1974; I was disappointed that it failed to even make the top 30. The opening piano riff reminded me some of the opening notes of "Overnight Sensation."

"Angie Baby" was played as an optional extra on the countdown from 10/19/74-Larry Morgan mentioned that the song was written by Alan O'Day of "Undercover Angel" fame-Larry also mentioned that the song was initially offered to Cher but that she turned it down-Interestingly enough,Cher had a moderately successful solo hit called "Train Of Thought" which peaked at # 27 in June 1974-The writer of that song was,you guessed it,Alan O' Day.

There have been B shows I converted which I shunned if favor of the A Ken, have you guys ever considered playing both shows on weeks where there is an A and B (kind of like Mike Eiland/WODC used to do)?
